Stakes Have Been Raised to $200,000!

Holy bejesus
I will not be surprised if they are still playing when Trump gets fired after 1 term

Race to 40 is not very long for these guys. I know Scott plays at a good pace and we will see how Dennis and his pace are in the match. I think most pro players can play a race to 10 in less then 8 hours or so.

I will bet it's over in four days!

Me too Jay!..But I kind of agree with Bartrum..For that kind of $$$, you need to hope Scott is pre-occupied, and plays about a half ball under his normal speed.....I think you've got the wrong horse pard! :sorry:

Me too Jay!..But I hope you like the outcome..Unless Scott goes into his feinting act, I think you've got the wrong horse! :sorry:

Dick, I learned a long time ago to ride the horse in the direction it's running. I would have rode you too given the chance. I only saw you play once at Ronnie's old room in N. Hollywood. Lenny Moore was his partner. At least I think it was you; a handsome gentleman, quiet and clean cut with a good vocabulary not filled with expletives. I thought you were one of Ronnie's suckers until I watched you play a little. I think Ronnie was giving you something like 9-8, 8-7. Correct me if I'm wrong but that was over forty years ago. Maybe forty five years ago!

I was playing Cole Lander 9-Ball on the next table for ten a game and you guys were betting like 100 a pop. Maybe even 200. I just know it was a big game and Ronnie had to go to the register to get money to pay you.
Was that you San Jose Dick?

It could have been Jay (except for the handsome part ;))..I can't say for sure!..You are right, 45 yrs. is a long time ago!..RA and I played many, many times, everywhere.. Even a few times at his place, but mostly in San Jose, or Cochrans!..He always gave me a little weight, and he didn't always like it!..His shark was always worth a couple of balls, so I always felt like I was spotting him! ;).. We had some real battles, talk about tough action!..I sure miss him, and those good old days! :yeah:

PS..I have no wager on the Scott/Orcullo match, (yet).. so I will pull for you!..

I was watching the Alex and Dennis match on the stream from DCC and Dennis was painfully slow. Thank God these guys are pros and can fade each other's quirks. If it was me, I'd be like Earl sleeping in the chair against Ralf. The crowd had to wake him to tell him to SHOOT!

Then again, if it was me, the bet would be about 20 bucks.

Frost

IMO, it is all up to Scott to either win or lose.

If he takes it serious, and he is focused, I would give him a slight edge.

Scott Frost should have won 2 or 3 more One Pocket titles at DCC, but IMO, he let them slip away.

I think the loss to Alex really took a toll on Scott.

DO is an great player, but One Pocket isnt his game. I think he will turn in a solid performance, but he wont win if Scott is prepared and focused.

This is all about Scott, win or lose.

Im not positive about this but I am pretty sure they will be playing indoors so the weather should not have too much of an effect on the match.:scratchhead::scratchhead:
Yes, very clever. If you read the post, the inference was,
1. why go to WI, period.
2. why in March....snow bound
3. travel could be an issue
4. whats wrong with Arizona?
5. I still have no answer or clue why WI?
Thanks for trying to be witty.
Better luck next time

People seem to forget that Dennis won the U.S. Open One Pocket title in 2014 and 2015. EVERYBODY played in those tournaments, including Scott. How soon people forget! I've long felt that Dennis was one of the premier One Pocket players. He's creative, imaginative and his shot making is on a par with anyone. Plus, he plays great under pressure and nothing seems to phase him.

For all those that say Dennis is not a good One Pocket player, I will only say you're wrong. He's one of the best, top six imo. Scott is another top One Pocket player and has been for a long time. Anyone who can win a long match with Efren has my respect. He knows all the moves and banks like God. This figures to be one epic match and I'm looking forward to sweating it. I wouldn't be surprised to see it decided by only one or two games.

You know it's a great match when both sides have so many fervent supporters.

Testers

IMO this match will come down to the tester shots. Scott will miss more of these types of shots than Dennis. My advise to Dennis would be to not be afraid to leave Scott near the head rail and challenge him to make them, even if the cue ball is not on the head rail, the long shots will test Scott. If Scott does this to Dennis, Dennis will make them. To me, Scott's main weakness is missing too many shots out of nowhere.

Dennis takes a long time considering his shots. Longer than most pros, for sure.

But if you leave him a bank, he runs out the game on that inning. Which saves quite a bit of time compared to many players.

I see this as a challenge of composure.

Both players have a history of getting into a "give-up" mode when things don't go their way. The biggest test for both of these guys, is staying focused when their backs are up against the wall. This is where I think Scott has a slight edge over Dennis. I can see Scott climbing back if he gets down 8 games, but with Dennis, you just never know.

This isn't 10 Ball, where Dennis can shoot his way out of trouble. This is going to wear on both players, especially if one of them gets to double digits on the other.

Should be a great match, and will absolutely test their emotions.

I'm assuming this will be on a Diamond. Does anyone know for sure...?
