Stan Shuffett & Mark Wilson

Stan Shuffett and Mark Wilson were recommended to me here on AZB (I need some coaching on a stroke defect) So I went to both of their websites and emailed them last week. It's been about 5 days and I've gotten no response from either one.

Anyone used them before? Have any comments about their teaching? I really wanted to stick with one of these guys because they are both within a few hours drive of my home, but the slow response time makes me think twice about using either one.

Thanks

Stan is most likely on the road with Landon right now heading to the Junior Nationals.

Either teacher would be a great choice.

I've used Mark for one lesson which lasted a couple of hours longer than scheduled. When I interviewed him for the job I told him all I wanted to get out of his lesson was fundamentals, since pool is not my main interest. he told me that's good because that's all I teach in the first lesson. He taught me more on fundamentals than any other coach. Lots of stuff I've never heard of and pointed out things nobody else noticed.

If you use him I assure you you'll be satisfied spending the time and money.

I've never met Stan but his credentials speak for themselves. It may be a coin toss.

One thing to consider. Every lesson I've had, I've pick up at least a couple of jewels that made it worth while. Consider going to both in the next year or so. Scott Lee travels around and can certainly analyze a stroke with the best of them.

Mark is excellent.

If he hasn't gotten back to you, he might not be in town. Why don't you call his shop tomorrow? The number's on his website at http://www.playgreatpool.com/ The Billiard Bullpen's number is 618-346-0325

Thanks Stan

Just an update... There must have been something wrong with my email. Stan has now contacted me and I'm in the process of setting something up with him. I have heard good things about his teaching and look forward to working with him.

Tim,
I don't believe that Mark's website has good support for e-mail. As he is at his business most of the time, I would NOT rely on e-mail; just call his business between 3 PM and midnight (central time). You'll be glad you did.

Thanks Tom! I already made Tim aware that I would come to him in Cincinnati, but I haven't heard from him.

Tim...Best of luck with Stan. He's a great teacher, and if you go in with an open mind you'll gain a lot of knowledge in a short period of time!

I spent an in depth session with Stan last week. It was intense in a very positive manner. He has so much information I could have stayed a week. If you would like discuss details, you are welcome to call me.

Stan and his family just terrific people.:)

Sincerely,
Jim Kissinger

Willie is exactly correct, well almost. I just got off the phone with Mark. He is @his pool room from 2pm - Midnight. You can reach him @ 618-346-0325. If he is not there, he has a recorder on the line so just leave a message. He is real good about calling people back.

Mark wanted everyone to know that the email is not working on his site properly & he has someone looking into it. No time table on when it will be fixed.

Last week Mark was down in Florida for the Women's Pro Event, as he is an announcer for the tour. He also didn't miss a chance at going to check out the poker rooms in So. Florida.

Tim, I don't think you can go wrong with Stan or Mark. It would be hard to argue the fact that Landon Shuffett & Justin Bergman are two of the best young proteges in the country.

Thanks for the update. I'm sure both Stan and Mark are excellent instructors, I assumed it was just an email problem, or the fact that they were travelling. I have been to some events where they were present and I know they are both 1st class.

I drove 4 hours each way to see Mark and it was worth every minute and every dollar spent. He's a nice guy and a great teacher. You'll never be sorry if you go see Mark. Check out his monthly column in Billiards Digest.
