Hello, we were debating today at the poolroom regarding what is the industry standard for cloth. If you know what your room is using please let me know.
Simonis 760 or 860 equivalent. Which do you prefer? WE had an argument at the room and our room uses 760, I think its too fast and there is way too much cue-ball skid and other problems because it is too fast IMO--as it is a billiard table cloth. Wish to know your opinions/professional opinions to bring back to the room next week.
thanks, Pauly

my 9 foot Olhausen at home has 860..just about every table in a hall that i have played has 860....i would like to play on the faster cloth someday and MAY consider it for home someday.

Championship

We use the championship cloth on our bar box tables simply because it's cheaper than simonez and holds up to the abuse better in a bar environment

Cloth

We use Simonis 860 as despite their claims 760 wears out faster with heavy use.

I personally prefer 860 on a 9 foot table, but have been to a couple places around here that uses the mali cloth, and i have to say thats some pretty good cloth for the price. Ive ordered some cloth for some friends and game rooms around here, and i have to say the best wear has been the mali cloth so far. As far as a home table id suggest simonis 860, but in a game room or something i personally have to say mali as ive been around pretty much all of it.

Standard Cloth

I use Simonis 860 40 to 1 over any other cloth. On the bar tables I use VALLEY TEFLON ULTRA over anything else. I feel I set up and recover alot of tables. I also know that Ernesto uses Simonis 860 on almost every room he recovers.
Simonis 860 is the standard on the west coast.

here at our bar our valley 7" tables are covered in Simonis 860 and our 7" Diamond Smart Tables are covered in Championship Tour Edition. I prefer the Tour Edition over anything else.

Well

If you have a humidity problem champion cloth can be ordered miosture resistant or standard where simonus dosen't also champion cloth holds up better but man it is fast.

We Use 860 Here In Our Room. We May Try Championship On Half Of Them The Next We Get Them Done.

860 is thicker than 760. 760 is faster. But 860 is more durable than 760. You can play soft draw on a 760 and the cueball reverse like a bullet. 760 is bad for practise if standard tournament cloth is a 860.

When I worked at a pool hall in Central NJ in the early 90s 760 was the standard. 860 was used at tourneys because it played like 760 once it was broken in. This could be BS but that is how it was done @ my old room back then.

with simonis, the number is the thread count...860...760 and so forth. someone said that 760 was billiard cloth, no , it isn't. 300 is billiard cloth and 760 is for snooker.

Thanks

OK, snooker it is....I just know that I play much better on 860, can control the rock much better than on the 760 that is on all of the GC2 tables locally.
