Standard Table Conditions Discussion

Enough levitation to eliminate frictional drag. So how is my course going.

If you would like to continue being my student there is a fee and application required.

Lol. The cost is going to be heavenly and if it ever thaws out you are screwed Not to mention any electronics placed on it will be fried.

People with pacemakers and people with metal plates and screwed also wont be able to play.

I like the idea though. I could see you were going in this direction in another post. 😀

If the electronics we talked about works at the level needed, it won't be a problem.
Do any other people even get work done?

Inviting you to a live talk requires funding. And funding doesn't happen without justification. That funding can only happen if you provide an explanation showing that your ideas have merit and are worth presenting in a public forum.

You've said why you think magnetic balls are an improvement. You haven't said why friction-less cloth is an improvement. In what ways would friction-less cloth change the game, and would those changes make the game better in some way?

I don't think its frictionless cloth as much as being able to change the speed of the cloth with a dial.

Frictionless cloth would eliminate swerve, and with backhand english deflection could be totally eliminated. It would definitely make aiming sidespin easier. Of course every cueball reaction would become a stun shot, no more follow and draw, which would be a bummer....

Of course there is a simpler, better, and like 1000x cheaper solution, and that is heated playing beds...

It still fun to see a computational problem. Do you know anyone with the computer capable of running the simulation in a reasonable amount of time?

I would want guest speakers to show up and invite faculty members instrumental to my growth.

They have some nice demonstrations to stir up interest in specific fields that have gone unnoticed for awhile.

Some of the people I want to invite are from all over the world and need time to free up their schedule.

Most of people attending should have enough seniority to get a few days away from their respective institutions. It should be a workshop with good food and better demonstrations. The problem in Europe could impact the ability for some people to attend.

The talk would be a particle with multiple poles: Justin Systems or finite-dimensional poles

That's even better!

1. You make arrangements to provide a lecture hall at your institution or we arrange one nearby.
2. We provide a live stream, and that will also enable you to invite all your faculty and student body, as well as your colleagues in Europe and around the world. It gets around all the costs and complications of foreign travel.
3. If you want to present other topics less billiard-related, you can do that following your billiards lecture.
3. We can post the press release here on AZB as well as numerous institutes around the world.
4. If you have other presenters who want to make demonstrations or provide a seminar they're welcome to join in. (I attended a lecture on Thursday that had additional lecturers following each other online.)
5. After your lecture, we can have an informal reception and meet-and-greet at Amsterdam Billiards or another local bar or restaurant.

The title you proposed for your lecture won't work as it won't attract anyone from the world of billiards.

In-person and Online Lecture and Presentation:

Modern Innovations in Billiards
by Justnum

Justnum (we'll use your real name) describes himself as a creative and innovative thinker, and has turned his advanced mathematics and physics knowledge to focus on the world of billiards.

Justnum has developed a set of magnetic billiard balls using a proprietary "Justin Lock" that enables the balls to lock together forming a perfect 'tight rack' every time, and eliminating the need for artificial means to prepare the balls for play. Justnum will demonstrate his magnetic balls live and discuss their use.

Justnum has also developed a "Justin Theory" which leads to a friction-less billiards cloth. This new cloth will enable ...... (you can fill this what the advantages are and how they'd affect the modern game.)

This lecture will be held at:
(Location Address you can provide)
on Sunday, October 23, 2022, at 7 p.m.
A simultaneous live stream will be held at:
(Youtube channel for Billiard Physics. I'll set that up.)

A question-and-answer session will follow.

An informal reception will be held from 9pm to 11pm at
Amsterdam Billiards
110 E 11th St.,
New York, NY
212-995-0333

I think this will work well.

As soon as we get it finished and set the date, I can send the Press Release to the American Institute of Physics, and the American Institute of Mathematics, as well as numerous other science organizations, as well as some billiard leagues and clubs.

Your a great secretary. Did you want to propose anything? How is progress on the Larrson cue?

It still fun to see a computational problem. Do you know anyone with the computer capable of running the simulation in a reasonable amount of time?
It depends upon the simulation. I don't think anything proposed so far would require any special computer to simulate.

The last person couldn't see past racking problems in an 8 ball rack. Do you need help with your job too?

Sorry, I haven't heard anything about a Larrson cue.

So, you haven't responded to the plan for you to give a lecture, and we could stream it, and have an informal reception afterwards.

Here's the post again. It seems to meet all your requirements that you've posted. What if any changes would you suggest?

Sounds good. Require registration and make sure people provide contact info before they attend or before they leave.

The presentation should end with an open question.

How to design a pool table so two players anywhere in the world can physically compete against each other in real time but on different table?

Make sure to order only Ukrainian food for the event. No Russian products allowed.
  • Salo – Cured Pork Fat. Everyone knows the Ukrainians love their Salo, not only for its unique taste but also for the health benefits it brings. ...
  • Holodets/ Kholodets – Meat Jelly. ...
  • Olivye – Ukrainian Potato Salad. ...
  • Pampushky – Ukrainian Garlic Bread. ...
  • Bublik – Ukrainian-style Bagel.

There won't be any food ordered, since that would require raising funds. The informal reception will be a meet-and-greet and people will have to fend for themselves for food and drink. Amsterdam Billiards isn't the closest billiards hall to your institution, but it is well known.

Is the date on the press release good for you - Sunday Oct 23rd? And do you think you'll need one hour or two?

If you'd rather I do it, I can contact your academic institution to see about reserving a lecture room. I have your info from LinkedIn, and I'm pretty sure they'd be agreeable.

How would you like me to finish that paragraph in the Press Release describing the advantages of a frictionless billiards cloth?
"Justnum has also developed a "Justin Theory" which leads to a friction-less billiards cloth. This new cloth will enable ...... (you can fill this what the advantages are and how they'd affect the modern game.)"

For people who attend the lecture, we can arrange for there to be a guest book. For the online lecture, there will be a link in the video information for people to register.

There is a pool room near my institution but it has the polyester balls and 12 tables. It also has a bowling alley in it. Jeanette Lee has an APA poster up from the 90s. The parking is better. And it is closer to the interstate.

Amsterdam is a no go. Sunday is a no go.

If not Sunday, what date would work?

Since there won't be a pool table in the lecture room, can you record your demonstration in advance? I'll set up the Youtube channel.

Let's hold off the next open house is not until next Summer. I can plan it around the student orientations.
I can handle the guests that will be allowed at the institution, everyone else stays in the pool room.

Stick with mag balls (particles with non binary polarity) as a title.
Also tease the two table problem, How can two players compete in a game with the same identical physical shots but on two different physical tables?

Background BS/MS Math also anime/gaming club advisor. Favorite game Matchroom 9 ball.
Don't set a date, just make promote and see if anyone emails with interest.

For this affair attendance usually has to be mandated for people to turnout.

Next summer is 8 months away? That doesn't make much sense if you're trying to raise funding. What if someone else develops magnetic balls in the meantime?

What about the Maxwell cloth? Are you dropping that?

We can't send a press release about an upcoming lecture without a date, time, and address, just to see if anyone responds to the press release. The AIP and AIM would not be impressed. That's basic business, and might even be considered unethical. If you're committing to provide a lecture, you need to make the commitment clear.

Where you have the balls, why don't you do the demo, and we'll do just do a magnetic balls lecture and demo fully online? That's pretty easy to set up. We can still send out the press release to the billliards and snooker world.

at the next billiard expo I will pay for a table and test the product out on people. Then you can send out the press kit.

I will use the time to decide how much mag strength to have or not have. Imagine players powering up but not getting a good scatter because the mag force is too strong. Conversely if its too weak they can exploit the break like theyve been doing for years.

you've said the magnetic balls were ready to be demonstrated at a public lecture, but now that we can set up the public lecture, you can't do it.

Do you know anyone that believes the nonsense you propose should be created in the real world and not a virtual one?

I don't understand your call for the wide variety of resources, since it is all fantasy with negligible real world value.

I protect my sources.
You made up some bullshit.

Geez, who woulda thunk that possible?
