Starrett Machinist Level

Your looking for a 12" or 18" model 98. Just search ebay for starrett 12" level. Make sure you get one that is in good to new condition. Be prepared to spend at least $65. It will probably be more like $100 unless you buy new.

i purchased a 12 inch Starrett in 2005 from www.mytoolstore.com it came in a wooden storage box and was about $200.00...i remember i called around and this was the ONLY place that had one in stock..sorry i don't know how to post a pic of it.......hope this helps you...

I use the 98-8 inch, because it allows me to see the dips in the slate much better...instead of bridging them with a longer level. The longer the level..the more it creates a bridge which will not allow you to see the dips in the slate as well. The 98-6 is tooooo short thereby to sensitive to dips and grind marks. I've tried all the starrett levels and finally settled on the 8 inch as the best for me.
