Stats for Oscar/John TAR Match - Any feedback?

I received quite a bit of positive feedback from doing some stats on the Shane/Scott TAR match in July. TAR has given me the green light to do it again on the match coming up this Friday.

I was looking for any feedback on what I was doing. The stats I kept track of, along with my commentary of each game, had me pretty maxed out, so I'm not entertaining any additional stats. BUT, I was curious, are the stats I provided, in your opinion, pretty major ones you would like to see? If not, which are important to you?

Also, was the game by game commentary worthwhile to you, or not something you read anyways?

If you need to refresh your memory of what it was all about, please visit the site below.

You can visit my site of where I have the Shane/Scott stats stored and also the site where you will be able to obtain the upcoming Oscar/John stats at

www.oldpoolhall.com/tarupdates

Just click on the TAR poster of each match there, to go to a page on that particular match to view the stats.

I hope many of you are able to purchase the PPV and enjoy some good 10 ball between 2 young guns! TAR really brings a well produced video stream to you and someone is walking away with $20,000, and I can assure you it's not going to be me and it's not going to be TAR!

The Pay Per View can be purchased at www.theactionreport.com
It's only 25 buck for all 3 days or less for individual days. I'm sure there is going to be at least 180 games played one way or the other.

If you are offering any stats that's infinitely better than most pool matches that offer no stats.

Loved the stats you did on the Shane vs. Scott match. Really looking forward to seeing you do them again on this match. Thanks for all the hard work and time you put into these matches for the rest of us.

I thought that was great. I know you do not want added stats but I thought the only thing lacking was number of successful/unsuccessful safeties. This is something that is discussed often. People may remember more how Efren hit every kick shot than that Earl ran more racks.

I thought the work was great and want to say thanks.

Thanks.... I know safeties are a real important part of the game, I'm just not sure how a person could score that very accurately.

First you have the guy playing the safe.
1. does he play a good safe, does he hide the guy so he can't see any of the ball? does he screw up and leave the guy a edge of the ball? he trys to freeze the guy on a ball, but doesn't and allow him a kick at it, is that a failed safe? A safe can be a long tough shot and he can still see the whole ball... It's just so subjective. I think there is just so many options available to play safeties.

During the Scott/Shane match, Shane missed many of the safeties he tried and didn't completely lock up Scott. To me, that was a error, especially many of the short ones, where he didn't have to move the cueball very far.

Then you got the the guy shooting to get out of the safe.

1. he trys to kick at it and hit a particular side of the ball, but doesn't, is that a failed kick? he makes a good hit on the kick, but doesn't really appear to be trying to hit it any particular way, is that a good hit? You got the Filipino's that kick so good, that they are not only trying to hit the ball, but they are trying to leave the object ball and the cueball in a particular place.

How is it that people score safeties?

hehe... when their playing safe, that gives me a brief moment to type up commentary or upload my files. If I had to watch that, I wouldn't have any time to do everything else....

I agree that I wish I could include that stat, but just not enough time to do it.

Thanks for the input, that is something that would be on my wish list.
