I've been taught to "stay down" after making each shot. Specifically until the object ball falls into the pocket or stops rolling.
But it seems to me I should stay down until the CUE BALL stops rolling. (Stay down on shot after object ball falls into pocket and wait until cue ball stops rolling until getting up from shot.)
And of course if the ball(s) come back your direction and you are in the way, you can stay down, but "rotate" your bridge hand up in the air to allow the ball(s) to continue on their path.
