I'm looking for a lathe to start making cues.
Why would you guys send him off to buy a simple machinist's lathe if he's going to build something ornamental like cues? He's really gonna need one of these some day anyway - might as well get it now:

Looks like something out of H.G Wells. Very Cool Naval Brass!!
Occasionally you can find a good one on eBay for a reasonable price. In fact, right now there's a Holtzapffel with lots of tooling:

It's an older model, but the nice thing is you don't need electricity to use it - so that should save some ghitas.

Get a big metal lathe .Yes I do. I currently have a lathe to do small repairs. Its been about 15 years since I did any specialty repairs like wraps, butt caps, joint repair.
