Stolen Cues Rockledge Florida

Sad to say friends, my son's car (the only car broken in to) during a pool tournament last nite (Friday 12/28) in Rockledge. Will not name the poolroom, not sure of the relevance but, it was on u.s. I. He was two and out so he put his cue and his girls cue in his car and went back inside to watch the tournament. His window was bashed in and his custom Omen cue (2 shafts) black irish linen wrap, birdseye maple on forearm, black points with green/orange veneer inside the points (I'll try to find a picture) and ebony on the butt, a players black jump break and a sneaky pete along with a black action cue case 3x5. His girl friend's new cue which she had just gotten for Christmas-not expensive and easily replaceable, (but sentimental) black and white players graphics series with a pro series aligator type 1x1 hard cue case. An ipod, speakers and other electronics were also taken. But, the custom cue is the most important since he had saved a very long time to purchase it from the cue maker pete ohman. Please be on the lookout and if you see this cue, pm me. The cue is also signed by pete ohman.

Sorry to hear that because to me there ain't much worse in the world than a thief, be sure to offer a reward $150 or so and put the word out and check the local Pawn shops for a few weeks. The Ipod is gone but the cues will be hard to sell, good luck.

That totally sucks. Good luck with getting them back, at least the omen is easily identifiable. I'd be keeping my eyes out on ebay, etc... If I caught someone trying to steal my cues, I'd break their legs. Then I'd tap dance on their crotch.

Give out as much information as you know, and hit the other bars/pool rooms in the area, pawn shops, and were the stuff could be peddled fast for drugs, or booze. Most thieves are supporting some sort of habit and do several crimes daily to support their habit.

Get some flyers made and hand them out to every pool room for which you can get an address. Also send to pawn shops, police, tournament organizers, cue sellers (they might try for a trade) and offer a no questions asked reward.

Sorry for your loss. Let's keep this thread bumped.

@^)(%&*$!

That totally sucks! Get aggresive about getting the cue back. It will be hard for the theif to sell and you can help make it even harder by posting up a flyer and a reward. Good luck and definitely try and find some pics of the cue or a similar one. You might even ask Pete if he has a pic of the cue for his records.

Thanks for the great ideas. I'm trying to get with pete in case he has a photo. I must have 20 of my custom cue, I can't beleive we don't have one of Kevin's cue.
Now I find it really weird that his car was the only one broken into in this parking lot. Do you think it could've been someone at the tournament who saw him put the cues in his car??? And if so, what other advice would you have to give along with offering a reward?
I'm told this poolroom closed it's doors for good last night so I can't even go there and talk to the owners. The pool world is small, maybe with a little deligence and a reward we can get the cues back.
Thanks again everyone. I appreciate your help.

I find it conspicuous as well, that his was the only car broken into. A pool cue isn't the first thing I would think of stealing if I was looking for quick cash. Then again, people strung out on hard drugs aren't particularly rational thinking people. I'd try to get a list of the people that participated in the tournament, and track them down just to make sure no one saw anything. Pool players are going to naturally show some empathy if you contact them and say your cue was stolen during that particular tournament, and just ask if they happened to see/hear anything, or have seen the cue floating around... or heard any gossip on the street.

I also find it hard to believe that someone was able to break into the car while a pool tournament is going on and there be no witnesses. But, hey I live in Ohio where there is a smoking ban... so there is usually someone outside in the parking lot having a cig.

I would say tho, it is unlikely that someone participating in the tournament took the cues... Perhaps, a spectator...or something. Any pool players seen the hustler, and what happens to fast eddie's thumbs... and that was just for beating someone straight up. Imagine the consequences if you got busted stealing someones custom cue... and you were a local at the pool hall...

The strangest coincidence is that the pool hall shut down in the same time frame of the stolen cue. Was it located in a bad neighborhood? I guess the biggest question I would ask, had the pool hall had any previous problems with theft/fights, etc... problems with essentially having customers with poor ethics. You may want to see about searching for police reports of crimes that happened in the vicinity of the pool hall. See if there is a trend of crimes being committed around the area of the pool hall in question. See if anyone has been busted with a similar MO.

Hope this helps, just brainstorming.

The Poolroom in question is indeed located in a less than preferable part of town... ironically last night was the last night the poolroom was open for business as well....

Although, in the few months it was open, there were no previous reports of theft that I'm aware of and I live a few miles from there and have frequented the place for tournaments and returning repairs to customers.

Given the resale value of an Omen, I would have to agree with the other post stating that it was perhaps a tourn. player or someone who knows the value of cues... unless it was just complete coincidence that he was a victim of an unfortunate incident, I would bet that if it were a "players" cue they still would be in his posession !

Tracy : I will definitley keep alert for anyone bringing on OMEN cue to me for repairs or sales, since I know pretty much everyone in the county who owns one, and I will contact you immediately if I get any suspicious inquiries !

Sincerely, Eddie Wheat

That sucks. I had my custom jerry oliver stolen a few years ago, and i remember how devistated i was. The worst part of all was im sure the guys who stole it probably got 40 bucks for it at a pawn shop, and had no idea what the true value of it was.

If you're lucky someone will try to sell the cues at a local poolhall so post pictures (ask the cuemaker if he has any pictures of it or cues that look like it) or i guess you can try the local pawn shops.

Heres to wishing you get it back.

If you have pics of them we will keep our eyes out for them. Check ebay, or Craigslist for all the 52 states if you have too.

We will let ya know what turns up!

WTF!!!
I have two things now that have me upset.
I can not believe that the hall closed, and I can not believe that anyone who knows anything about pool in our county can think that they can sell this thing and not get caught!!!

Hey T,

Make sure you call Shooters and Side Pockets up in Cocoa and get the word out. You may want to just go up there in person and talk to some folx. Also, if Kevin needs a cue, let me know...I got something he can have, and it's a decent cue, til he gets his back.

Let me know

Does your friend have pictures of the Cue, and stuff that was lifted? It will help if you need the Police to assist in recovery.

Thanks for the offer, my son is using a Joss and his girl is using a Mali right now. I did call Sidepockets and talked with Glenn, my son called Shooters and we put shout outs on myspace.
We need to get flyers up to the poolrooms and pawn shops.
Thanks all for the great advice.
Quick story.
I had a friend whose omen was stolen from his truck (years ago) and it turned up in my poolroom 2 years later for a repair. Naturally, we kept it and returned it to it's rightful owner--It helps when everyone is on the lookout, so maybe my son will get lucky too.

Tracy...please add the non-emergency phone number of your local police department as well as the phone number of your pool room to your post in case you have any hits. Also maybe a direct email of the pool room if you have one? Just some quick contact may make things happen faster.

Craig....

Sorry to hear about this happening. I have been there. Makes me sick.
