You're at all of the tournaments and you book winners in the calcuttas;but you never jelly roll your player..

You bet on the rail, you win big at times;Yet you never slide your player any Jelly!?!

You make money off of these players but you never show them any love..

You know who you are:mad:

I will not drop any names;but I could feel AZ getting awfully quiet right about now.

I will agree to this only if the player I shoot the jelly to helps me out when I lose money because of him. Favors go both ways.

Hey Walt, how about putting up some guidelines on what you think appropriate jelly amounts are?

I'm not taking that bait

You and I both know that the purpose of this thread is not to start a "how to" or "how much" ..That should be left up to your own discretion.

A wise man once said"when in doubt,do what's fair" ..That's all,whatever you feel is fair..whether it's 5%,10%, or more..Just do the right thing..

Comprende' Amigo?:) :)

LOL. Well, it wasn't bait... I don't gamble much, so it was an honest question. Anyhow, yo comprendo. Muchas gracias. :)

make up

alot of players are on make up that most people don't know about but the 2 involved. ya know, the guy who boght him may have lost alot backing him on another occasion. alot of players have a short memory for that stuff. plus the occasional  "hey ya got a 20 spot".sometimes in a calcutta the player doesn't buy half. what then?? i just recently bought a player for 180. he got in the calcutta money but we only got 80 back. he didn't have the money to buy half. he got no jelly but he understood. what do you think??

I got many references. I ain't that guy. I will reward the rewardable. That basically means if you win, I cut you in. Second place may get a small bite and any lower than that and I keep it all. The catch to this is if a player comes up to me and asks for the jelly or what he gets if he wins he just screwed himself. I just answer with "We'll see, win and we'll talk about it."

I have always kicked back 10% of any profit after I get back my initial investment.

because what you're telling me is that you did'nt recoup your stake of $180.00..but came out $100.00 loser..

Of course you did'nt kick back any jelly 'cause their was none.

Jelly/Jelly Roll=A percantage of PROFITS awarded/rewarded to someone whose talents or achievements you have financially gained from.

funny

I gamble my cash and I'm supposed to hand over a piece to the player?

lol

lol i agree!

look i see where you are coming from and it's very noble. but come on, it's not like we get compensation when we lose is it? because pool hasnt broken into the mainstream yet is why people think these sorts of things. if i bet on my football team and lose i don't expect them to give me some money back because i lost money and I chose to place a bet. the players arent there just for us to bet on you know. if we choose to thats fine, but it's our choice.

What about when I lend a good player a nice cue to use in a match, he wins $1000 and returns the cue without even a thank you, much less a jelly roll? Hmm....

I have given a player that I bought in a calcutta a little jelly, but on the whole I am not in favor of giving any jelly. I have never had a player come up and give me any jelly when I have bought them or bet on them when they lost. I have also let a well known player use my cue stick in a tournament in South Carolina and he got third behind Earl Strickland and Tony Watson pocketing over $1000 and no jelly, nor did I expect any. I have played in many golf calcuttas where I've made a lot of money for the people that bought us and I would never even think of asking for or getting any jelly. The way I look at it is, whomever risks the money should reap the reward. If the players want to get part of the calcutta winnings then they should buy themselves. I always try and buy myself or my team in big golf calcuttas and always do unless we go in one of the blind bids. The fact that most players EXPECT a jelly disgusts me.

Speaking of jelly, a few years back Mark Gregory was always asking for jelly. So much so, that we use to kid him about it all the time. One night after being at Mr. Cues, we went to the Steak and Shake and Mark was there. He didnt see us come in, so we had the waitress take him an entire plate of nothing but jelly, compliments of us. She handed it to him and he had a confused look on his face. She pointed to us across the room and we all had a good laugh out of it.

I almost always throw something the players way if I come out ahead. When I don't I have my reasons. It is nobodies business but mine.

What if you are stuck $1500 or $2000 for the tournament and your $200 sweat bet pays off that the player didn't even know about ? Are you a bad guy for not tipping ?

The worst case of non-jellyitus I personally witnessed was a player winning a guy $6000 in one set and the guy happily tossed him $400 and walked away smiling. Let's just say the player was VERY unhappy, as he should be. But, if you don't have it worked out ahead of time sh!t will happen.

Such are the perils and pitfalls of getting in action. Lessons cost money.

So your saying that the jelly given was of a flavor of, "sour apple?" :p
