Stop making new pool games.

Many many AZer's stated it sucked after 10 minutes of viewing. However all the top players that I have shown the game to, love it. It combines all the great games but more resembles One Pocket with the speed of traditional pool games. I tried watching One Pocket many times and thought it was a dumb game until I actually played the game. I love the game. Bonus Ball is not just a new game, Bonus Ball is well structured game. Strategic game and fun to play. Like all pool games, maybe watching it is not for everyone. Fair call!

Still, truely it is a game that has merit and deserves a good look.

You have talked so many times about how great Bonus Ball is and how you have leagues all over Canada, how once someone was shown the game they immediately fell in love with it. I will ask you again -- can you show us the website that has all of the league data with participation #s, stats, etc?

Yes, I most certainly can, my friend. Now that I'm promoting Bonus Ball on my own, I will put up a page on www.playbonusball.com recapping the test league with all the matches. That is about a weeks worth of work but I most certainly believe that talk is cheap and to show my integrity and honesty, I will get on that right away. I will post it when it is up! You will see top Canadian players like Shannon Ducharme who is a BCA Canadian National champion, I believe, and Berry Mclean who won our scoring title. There were also three players from that league that competed in the US Nine Ball Open after our season. You will even see low level players, like myself, who also had fun competing because in Bonus Ball, you get so many more visits to the table, that it is that much fun!

Great idea! Anybody that posts legitimate questions will always get a response from me. If you want to talk trash, please send your emails to barry@playbonusball.com

Every time you speak, I question your chromosome count.

At first he was like...

Because every time one of these BB guys post "great game" "Fun" or "call now cause we can't do this all day" It shows their complete lack of objectivity and a severe case of blinded by their own invention.

I played bonus ball a few times. I liked it. I will play it again.

Thanks for the support and that is why I bother posting on Cleary's threads. It's great for Bonus Ball Nation and harvesting new fans. I am not selling nothing but fun!

Somewhat over a year ago a local keener of all things pool generally given to hyperbole and sometime factually suspect made a post on Facebook about this great new game that would solve all that is wrong with professional pool called Bonus Ball.

Now I had heard of Bonus Ball for some time before that, I play out of Shooters in Toronto, Eric Hjorleifson and Jason Klatt, make it a home room and are originally from Winnipeg so I had heard about it early. Interested I looked it up on the internet, watched a demo video and dismissed it out of hand.

Therefore, when the keener posted I responded with something to the effect that I loved pool, like to watch and had watched the demo and felt that if someone such as me could not get interested there was a good chance that it would not take off to the general public.

Barry Bremner from Bonus Ball read this and responded. This resulted in our corresponding on the subject. He was pro and I was con. Because he expressed himself professionally, presenting his viewpoint in a thoughtful way I decided to revisit the web site. It had been maybe a year or more since my initial visit. It referred me to www.wpbl.tv which had a bunch of actual matches to view. (I would urge anyone who has not done so yet to watch some of these)

I found the matches interesting, the rules were laid out in a manner that were easier to understand and communicate (I should mention that my wife has become a fan of watching pool and decided to watch with me. The significance of this is that her first language is French and she was still able to easily pick up on the rules and strategy). I found myself wondering why I had not been able to get into it on my first visit (I think it possible that they fine tuned the rules) but knew that I now thoroughly enjoyed it.

I communicated this change of opinion both to Mr. Bremner and on the original posting on facebook. As I recall he was gracious in accepting my change of opinion.

Will Bonus Ball be successful? I hope so. Will I subscribe to the channel? Probably not, I currently think that the schedule and the PPV structure are going to be an issue for creating mass appeal.

I do wish you well, Barry, and hope that the current issues with the other management have as minimal an impact as possible in how successful this will be (although I now fear that it is already detracting from the chances for success).

Kulay

How do you define success? I invented what I think is a very good new game called Kulay. Is it successful in terms of fixing pro pool? No, but it wasn't intended to.

...To me it is a very satisfying game... So I think it's very successful on that level - the design of the game itself came out very well, IMO...

By the way, here is the link to the thread with the rules for Kulay on the outside chance anyone is interested. This not a "for profit" venture. I just think it's a cool game and want to encourage others to give it a try.

You can play any game with a pool cue. You can play bonus ball with a bonus ball set.

You can also play BB with a regular set of balls. It's easy.

FWIW I do agree wholeheartedly with the overuse and misuse of the "this is going to save pool" marketing avenue.

The only thing that is going to save pool is if pool gets on tv in an engaging enough fashion to encourage more people to play.

Or we get another oscar nominated pool movie.

Other than that - ALL pool games are going to be viewed by a very small audience.

And the more niche the game the more niche the audience.

So many false statements and induendo's. We have custom Game sets for sale for those that want to have Aramith Bonus Balls and the full working versions of our scoreboard. It comes at a price and it is about as much as one racing tire for my WISSOTA Modified racing car. Now I buy 20 a year for my car, so perhaps, buying a set of modern state of the art Aramith Balls (that far out last my racing tires) and state of the art, computer software is not within everyones reach!

I will today only, in honor of Mr. Cleary, sell sets at TWO FOR ONE! That is 24 hrs only. For a special, special Bonus, I will throw in enough balls for you to also play eight ball and One Pocket with them! Wow. Great deal there! Those orders must be received by paypal by mid-night, Thursday in Las Vegas! That is more than 24 hrs. Simply write in the special instruction box..."Clearly, Cleary has helped me save money today!"

Now getting back to reality, Bonus Ball can be played with any standard ball set. I have done it several times. It feels weird because it is like driving a new Corvette with a Chevette engine. It just does not seem right! No more right than playing Snooker with solids and stripes!

Do you need a scoreboard, hell no. I use pennies and can easily score a game by using the diamonds! Time clock and shot clock, don't need them in a pool hall playing with a friend...we are in no hurry!

Read the rules and go! They are the same rules more or less that you play every day! Ball in hand, hit a rail, etc. Go to www.playbonusball and order your special Cleary set today!
