Storing a Diamond Pro am

It's just a hobby, but a fun one.

Sorry if this has been repeated. I am about to go to Korea for two years and am going to put my pro am in storage. I plan on storing it on the dolly, on its side and covering it for two years. Are the tables designed to be able to handle the different stress it will take from being on its side for a couple of years? My concern is the wood might bend a little over time with the slate compressing only one side of the table.

Anyone have any experience with this? How does diamond store their tables at the warehouse?

Aloha Pocket,

In all fairness I am willing to bet that a majority of the viewers are people like me who are very interested in the mechanics section and are unable to post due to lack of experience in most topics in this section. Be patient and in time I'm sure you will here from the experts.

By the by did you happen to contact Diamond directly? I'm quite certain they can be helpful.

Mahalo,
Carl

Hi,

I'm a authorized Diamond mechanic and you should have no issues with storing your Diamond table as long as you do the following.
1 Temperature controlled storage, no extremes of temperature or humidity.

2 You are storing the table on a Diamond dolly.

3 Cover your table with a tarp of heavy plastic cover.

4 Make sure you you don't have a rodent problem in the storage area

5 Make sure the area is dry and doesn't flood, such as basements.

Your table should be fine stored in the dolly. I have tables stored in my warehouse for months at a time without any problems.

Thanks for the input, I do have the dolly so I am glad to hear that it should be fine. I cant really help temperature settings. i am in Arizona and it gets hot as heck out here. if the rubber goes bad from the heat, I am fine with that because I wouldnt mind getting the newer cusions put on any way. I am definitely getting new cloth put on after storing it.

Also a moving company is moving and storing it and if it gets damaged they will be paying for it.

You may want to consider having someone familiar with moving Diamonds move it. Most moving companies I've dealt with don't know a whole lot about moving pool tables, and I'm sure there are a lot less that know about the right way to move a Diamond.

Movers

I am betting that he is Military and dosen't have much choice in who moves or stores it. I just went through similar and decided to take the table with me but I had to spend a couple hundred to build slate crates as they wouldn't have.
