Story behind your avatar

My Avatar was chosen for two reasons. The first and biggest reason was it was animated. The second was the question and all its implications. Fascinating to think outside of the box.
Blue or red pill?
Morpheus: That you are a slave, Neo. Like everyone else, you were born into bondage, born inside a prison that you cannot smell, taste, or touch. A prison for your mind. (long pause, sighs) Unfortunately, no one can be told what the Matrix is. You have to see it for yourself. This is your last chance. After this, there is no turning back.
(In his left hand, Morpheus shows a blue pill.)
Morpheus: You take the blue pill and the story ends. You wake in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. (a red pill is shown in his other hand) You take the red pill and you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit-hole goes. (Long pause; Neo begins to reach for the red pill) Remember -- all I am offering is the truth, nothing more.
(Neo takes the red pill and swallows it with a glass of water)

The blue pill will leave us as we are, in a life consisting of habit, of things we believe we know. We are comfortable, we do not need truth to live. The blue pill symbolises commuting to work every day, or brushing your teeth.
The red pill is an unknown quantity. We are told that it can help us to find the truth. We don't know what that truth is, or even that the pill will help us to find it. The red pill symbolises risk, doubt and questioning. In order to answer the question, you can gamble your whole life and world on a reality you have never experienced.

After seeing all the cool avatars in this thread, I was inclined to change mine. I run a website about cephalopods (octopus and squid), at TONMO.com. This avatar is a crop of a pic of the transparent deep-sea squid Teuthowenia pellucida.
My old avatar was a promotion for my other site -- PoolVids.com. Old pic attached here; that's my basement table (8 ft. Olhousen). I'll keep my sig line as the promo!

I wanted to make an artistic photo of Palmer cue inlays, so I took some of the cues from my collection, laid them into this spoked pattern, and took the photo. I framed it with a diamond cut out and added software lighting effects to create an unusual photo for my web site.

I chose the mighty Philippine Eagle as my avatar out of national pride. The Philippine Eagle is one of the largest of all eagles and has the largest wing surface area with a wingspan of almost 7ft.
