Straighten your shafts easy with this tool

The flat spot is very small. There is no ****ing way to avoid rolling the tool a tiny bit and keeping it only on the 1/8 inch of flat area. Don't be scared? man we have have not met have we.
THERE SHOULD BE NO FLAT SPOT!!
IF YOU WANTED A FLAT SURFACE YOU SHOULD HAVE DESIGNED IT WITH A FLAT PIECE WITH A RADIUS AT THE FRONT AND REAR TO AVOID ANY DIGGING AND A PIVOT FOR THE ROD.

Honestly, excuses already?

This is why I will do my test in public with witnesses and also film it (for the record)

But don't be scared!

I'd like to see it work in person, don't get me wrong.

Because of this I am not going to grind it against my Meucci shaft as I had planned to originally.

In the mean time, does any one in the Denver area want to donate a shaft in the interest of proving or disproving that if you drag a metal bar along the length of a cue shaft with the force required to flex it enough to take a warp out, that it may or may not do more harm than good?

I've got the perfect shaft for the review.

Jay, remember the original Schuler from the auction?
The shafts are old, but in almost new condition, and one is warped.
The good news is that it is only warped in one direction >>:smile:

I'm coming down to the big city tomorrow, maybe we can hook up somewhere.

I am looking for a donor shaft. No offense intended. (sincerely) the Meucci is a full 13mm and has no nick no dings etc.. Just not straight. I think given my personal expectations I would prefer test #1 to be 100% disposable.

As you know, taking a flat spot out of a shaft that is not laser straight, would require taking off a lot of of material to bring it back to round.
As you would have to" sand" it back to round as opposed to cutting it in a lathe.,Which of course takes material off of the flat part as well as the round part as it is sands it to a reasonably round state. It would never actually be truly round again, So this is more than I want to risk for a fairly decent shaft as a beta test.

Minor scratches may not be much of an issue? But a flat side is no good. I'd say a bit of roll out would be much better than a flat sided shaft.

I'll try it out.
 
Im just trying to help the learning curv here but in the video watch the hand holding the joint. i do rotate the shaft each direction a little to get the hole high side of the shaft. im not grinding down 1 spot to make it flat.

I have a disposable shaft I can donate, but if you get this figured out will you straighten the Schuler shaft for me?

Awesome, Can you take some measurements at certain locations along the taper to compare to once it's been returned? Just to determine how much re-conditioning affected it.

Oh crap! just realized it was already sent. bummer.
 
i ordered this tool out of curiosity b/c of all the replies and comments in this thread. i have two shafts i was going to try it on and if it doesnt work no big loss. let me know what measurements you want me to take and i will take them before using this tool on them. thanks.
 
this won't work, I have a repair shop that provides straightening service on shafts to our customers, it takes some time and involves some stabilizing process, its never an easy work

Do you work for Jacoby Custom Cues, or just like/collect them, and do they, Brandon and Dave, authorize you to speak as their representative relative to this tool? Just curious. No flaming intended as I don't know who you are other than your avatar and moniker.
 
I dont work for Jacoby Custom Cues. I am however selling these tools for dave and brandon and they are aware of my user name. I am a friend of the family, I live a couple blocks from the shop and Brandon frequently comes over to play ring 9 on guy night. Any doubters out there can call Jacoby's 715-886-2900. Brandon was as big a sceptic as you all about straightening shafts untill he came up with this.
