I don't post here often but those few of you who know me know that I am serious about my pool game. I've played pool now for 46 years and although I've had my triumphs here and there, my game has been stuck on a very slippery plateau for about 10 years. Its a pool player's own special kind of hell to practice and play avidly for years without much, if any, significant improvement. My association with Earl Strickland has freed me from that hell.

In the past year I've been lucky enough to be able to take a couple lessons a month from my friend Earl and my game is at least two balls better than before. Earl is a super guy when you get to know him and his ability to quickly analyze a player's game and identify specific faults is amazing. I can't stress strongly enough just how valuable it is to me to finally see improvement in my game. My poor, long-suffering wife has even commented that I seem happier in general.

I want to encourage everyone who can, to take advantage of this rare opportunity to really improve your game. That $200.00 you maybe planned to spend on the new super-duper jump/break cue (or whatever) would be far better spent on being advised/critiqued by two of the greatest players ever. Don't miss it. Life's too short and opportunities like this don't come around very often.

No, I am not related to Earl, Johnny or anyone else involved in this tour.

I wonder if they teach students how to slam cues around without getting any dings? :)

(Just kidding, these guys are great!)
The key is playing with cheap cues. This way you can't lose more that a few bucks at a time ya know. I'm thinking about getting Earl a Bud Light or Dallas Cowboys cue. The guy is a F'ing genius he could probably kick my ass with one of those. In Fack he could probably use a golf club and beat my ass. :)

I thank you for your support, I have heard these kind of stories before about both players. I just have to find a way to keep them together for a long period of time so that lots of enthusiasts can get a chance at this. Seriously, two of the greatest players who ever lived in the same room teaching you how they think... It's awesome. I am not too worried right now but people have commitments etc and at some point will not be able to keep doing this for one reason or another. Since this has never been done before (with these two players) who knows when or if it will happen again? Anyway thanks for your support and I am glad your game is getting better,
Mark,

Nice post sir. I encourage anyone that is interested to go for it now. Hell when will this opportunity arise again for many of us.

I just found out today that my vegas trip is canceled so I will be able to make the Seattle school. Woohoo!

Strickland Archer Clinic

Just bumping for a good opportunity. It's not free.. but then not much in life is. When is the last time you got to hang out with two TOP pros and get pool advice from? And an opportunity to share some billiards history with two legends. You never know what kind of knowledge you will walk out of there with.

I heard they are coming to Shoreline Billiards next month, July 11th.

Heya Jazz. It's Friday July 18th. It was going to be one class from 11-3pm but that sold out fast and they would of had to turn away people so they added a second class from 4-8pm. Not sure how many slots are left. I believe it's only 12 ppl per class. Split two groups of 6. 2 hours with Strickland, then alternate 2 hours with Archer. I would PM bfdlad to confirm availablity.

I want to say thank you to bfdlad for setting this up. I have been in contact with him over the last two months, and the gentleman has been a pleasure to deal with. I would recommend this to any pool room owner who wants to give something back to their players. Last, I had Grady Mathews come to my Room, and to this day I have been receiving calls asking when Grady would be back. Johnny and Earl are scheduled to be in my room on the 24th of July, which is Full Splice Billiards in Lakewood, Washington.

Again thanks bfdlad for this opportunity

I will be going to the pool school and the exhibition at Full splice and I can't wait. I was telling Eddie Mataya and all the guys at league about the school and exhibition at Full Splice.

Hey Craig are they going to be playing on that sweet Brunswick with the new Simonis? Do you know what kind of Exhibition they are doing? Hopefully they play a set against each other.

Perhaps someone who has been to a school and the exhibition can give me a sneak peak as to what they have done for past exhibitions. Wouldn't mind seeing something like this either:

Wait patiently and watch at 2:05 for one of my favorite Earl moments.

Luxury, just so you know the Pool school and Exhibition are going to be just down the road at Malarkey's formerly known as City Lights. We will be going by Full splice to say hi to Craig and sign some of his memorabilia etc. Depending on time who knows maybe the guys will play a few to warm up before the exhibition. We are going by Full splice simply because the guys and myself really appreciate what Manwon/Craig had do to help us with this. He just wants what will be best for the sport in his area. I began talking with him to begin with and we were going to do everything there at his place, unselfishly he called me and said 'As much as I want it here, I think that you will have greater success at Malarley's" He was right, what a guy looking out for us like that. Anyway, when I told Earl and Johnny they agreed that we needed to stop by and say hi. Anyway I hope that all makes sense.

That's right, 2 balls better! Now I'm known as 7-ball Johnny. Get on out here. Your money is always a welcome addition to the game.
