** Sugartree Masterpiece for ICCS **

Those were a b!tch  They are solid ebony, with a threaded tenon. Basically, they are made like the typical delrin J/P's except with ebony and ringwork. Those bastards are as much work as the joint of the cue & shafts!!!!

I know how much you like to work on JPs.

Nice cue ... love Jamie's photo except for the floating head :grin-square:

Awesome

Simply awesome. Simple perfection! I am glad you posted pics because when Eric described the cue I was in awe, and it was as I imagined it!

I agree with Fatboy, if Eric was not there before (I put him there as soon as I played with one of his cues), after this cue; welcome to the big show!

Very nice. How are you going to top this? What is next?
Glen

Eric was telling me about another very nice 8 pointer he was finishing up. Very unique woods, should be a stunner.

I knew an old builder in Santa Barbara, not sure if he's stiff around or not. He really left an impression on me. He would walk the beach every morning & evening, picking up debris & driftwood & such. He'd look for old sandals & boots that had the laminated leather soles. He clamped them in a drill & used a holesaw to cut out bumpers. They polished up great, were classy, did a great job of protecting the cue & never costed a dime. I liked them because they were different & high class, as well as non-absorbing in terms of harmonics & vibration. It's like having the protection of the bumper without the dampening affect. And they look friggin cool :)

Anyway, he approved my using of his idea. I don't actually cut mine out of old shoes, though. I make mine. I have used them in cues for years, mostly higher end or special cues. But I learned a lot about cues from that guy. He was deaf but understood the harmonic dynamics of the cue, and how to manipulate it to feel like they were alive.

This cue is art of the highest order and you are truly a master artisan.... which I think is a very high position to reach.

I'm very proud to have one of your cues as I just cannot find words to express how much I admire your work and the way your mind works. You have respect for art and work and life and that's worthy of the highest commendation.

One bad Mutha!!!!!!

Eric has really raised the bar on this one. Classy without being to fancy. The frosting on this cake is I bet it hits like a mutha!!!. Nice job, Eric. This cue is the nuts.

Masterpiece...

That is one of the nicest cues that I have seen from you yet.

Great work, beauty without being TOO ornate.

First class example of how great a cue can look.

Good to hear you gave it some table time, not just case in the closet time.

Will be interesting to see what you come up with to top this one!

I've been

I've been telling Martyne to include Eric for over a year. At first she did not know what Sugartree was...I think this one earns him a spot in color!

Very nice work and the presentation of the cues is exceptional.
I am sure that this cue will draw some attention at the ICCS.

Good luck at the show.

Cool pics, Jamie :) Here's a few I took. It got ivory ferrules & kamui tips, after the pics. I'll also add that the extent of technology in my shop is digital calipers, so everything was done manually. I'm pretty proud of this cue, lots of work & lots of worries, but it worked out in the end.
