Suggestion for tip on Schon shaft

I'm about to order a back-up Schon shaft and considering a different tip in place of the factory Schon tip. I like the standard tip, but I want to try something different. So, with that in mine, which tip (any tip) would you guys recommend? So far, I'm considering the Everest and Moori.

One other thing, the hit (hardness/softness) is not that important....I kind of gotten use the the Schon tip. I mainly interested in a tip that would produce a little more action on the cue ball. And before you guys slam me, I know that good stroke and practice will produce the action I need, but for those of you out there who believe tips can produce more action, please respond.

thanks, JED

I just had two Wizard tips put on and I just love them ! You can get them at a great price from azb member FAST_N_LOOSE give them a try you will be glad you did.

Forgot to add....I'm getting the shaft from Seyberts so what ever they have in stock is what I'm getting as a tip.

One other thing.....is it true that Schon has a pad between the tip and ferrule? If so, when replacing a tip, the pad is what actually gets sanded, correct?

Medium/Hard Moori....Gives you alot of feed back and great feel...

No offense intended to any of the previous posters, 'cause tip preference is very much an individual thing. I have a suck stroke that needs all the help to be had from a good tip. My 5 shafts are currently tipped with Sniper, Moori M, Moori Q, Talisman M and Wizard M. For me, the Wizard just flat out-performs the others. I'll be replacing the Talisman with another Wizard on a Joss shaft tonite. IIRC the Schon tip is a bit on the firm side. The Wizard feels to me in between Moori M and Moori Q in hardness, so it may not take much time for you to adjust. And you just can't beat the price. Leave your pad on the ferrule when you remove the old tip. Have the pad faced clean and square, and just glue your new tip to the pad. Hope this helps.

Bill,

You are not the first person i've heard who liked the wizard tips. Do you know where they are made? I'm tempted to try one myself.

i just got a new schon shaft from seyberts last week with a kamui medium soft. I can get way more action on the cueball than i could before. Id say get a kamui med-soft tip.

Wouldn't the Kamui med or Kamui Hard be closest to the feel of the factory tip? Also, how'd you like the work of Seyberts and their tip installation? I guess they saved the pad when they installed the new tip, correct?

In the immortal words of our dearly departed friend, Tom Ferry (OldHasBeen), try the rhino foreskin tips. They are the nuts.

You may want to ask Marcus- AZ FastN'loose. I would guess there from the far east, since the only place I've seen them before Marcus' post was J&J cues. I just know, that for me, they just plain work! I've been on an extensive tip search the past two years, trying to find the one that felt "right" for me. I've tried: Triangle, LePro, Triumph, Moori (M&Q), Sniper, Talisman Pro (M&H), Super Pro, Sumo, Hercules (M&H), and Kamui M. My ferrules are quite relieved I finally settled on something for a while.

sumo

i liked the hit of sumo's. i have used triumphs, triangle, le pro, and moori's(medium). they all hit well. the sumo lasted and lasted. i have had very little mushrooming with any of my tips(may be relative to scarcity of playing time). my favorite tip was a chandivert rocky that just lasted so long.

i never hit with the factory tip so i wouldnt know how it hit. The kamui med soft hits soft (if that helps at all). and yes they kept the pad.

the schon iv shaft has a pad between tip and ferrule to protect the ivory ferrule when the tip gets worn down.
try an elkmaster milk dud tip......best tip i've ever used and cost next to nothing too.

I use a triangle on mine.

I would recommend a Snipper tip. I had Chad Carter build me a Custom Cue and I had two shafts made with a Moori and a Snipper. I play with the Snipper. It is a medium hardness but feels like a soft tip. It holds it shape for ever.

first i'd like to say i'm surprised that you like the schon standard tip. that thing's like a rock (to me anyway)

second i'd like to say that you might want to consider sticking with the same tip on both shafts. if something happens and you do end up using the backup shaft it might be a bigger deal than you're counting on switching tips

i really like the tips that i got from manwon (well ross actually but he got ripped off so they banned him.

talisman medium is a great tip and you get to try them pretty cheap. 3 for 21 bucks or something like that

My plan is to switch both shafts to the same tip once I figure out which one I like best. Just wanted to try something different. And you right: the Schon tip does hit very hard, but now I'm used to it. You definitely get feedback with the Schon tip.
