I searched and didnt come up with anything solid, Who manufactors the best of the best table? and where do I buy it?, $$$ isnt a issue buying it right is.

Also Granito or 300 which cloth is best I have played on both-20 years ago and I remember I like Granito better. I just lie to do things right and I have the space in my house for a the table, not a issue, Thanks in advance, Eric. oh if I can return the favor please let me know.

cheers

i'm so sleepy if i got a name wrong or smething its just cause i'm 3 minutes from sleeping, thanks again. :)

Hey Fatboy, Carom is the best period. Played four hours last night at Chris's in Chicago heated verhoovens with granito just the best IMO.. There is a totally different mindset in carom, I have trouble playing pocket billiards anywhere because everyone wishes to play for money. I do not and am not about to start now. In carom I can play anytime, there is always a player that wishes to play. You split the table time and the best player wins, it is polite, enjoyable, and no one gets an attitude. he players compliment each other on good shots and apologize for sloppy good shots. I have almost stopped playing pocket billiards because of the constant attitudes towards gambling and I have never seen a 'happy loser.' For me carom has become my game of choice!
Good Luck!

eric,

Here's one man's opinion. There are only a few manufacturers worth considering: Verhoeven, Gabriels, Chevillotte, Sogard, and, maybe, Elitte. I have never played on Elitte (made in Mexico and backed by Roberto Rojas), but I have heard good things. I would pick Simonis 300 Rapide over Granito, but either one is very good, and there are NO alternatives.

How to obtain such a table is harder. The BCA trade show would be a good place. I believe that Diamond is the US distributer for Gabriels. If you are in LA, you could check with some of the hispanic or Korean rooms, e.g., Eight Ball Billiards in Maywood has (had) 14 Verhoevens. Maybe one of the proprietors has a contact for a dealer or manufacturer.

Good luck and keep us posted.

i must be getting old and mellow, I have played 3C and straight rail many times over the years, awalys with the thought in the back of my mind "Someday I could really get into this", well now I can feel that day comming,

thanks for the names and ideas I will follow up on them and see what I can come up with. i will let everyone know when i do something. i have the space for a table, and it would be fun for me, I can watch 3C for hours, not just the big guys running 8,10,15 but even scrappy play. I was at Q-Masters the other nite watching the pool players play 3C-it was great.

I'm not the most creative player I ran 3 on my own a few times and 4 with coaching. I dont have high expectations, one great shot it just great itself. I'm not worried about setting records. figuring shots out is enough fun for me.

Hello Eric, first I would purchase a Verhoffen 3-Cushion table, they are the best made in my opinion. They are used throughout Europe and the United States for World and National Championships.

Next, I would buy Simonis 300 Rapid for cloth, it is faster than the Granito M and it also wears better. I use it on a 3-Cushion Table here in my pool room. It is also the preffered Cloth for major championships world wide.

Verhoffen tables are made in Belgian and they can be purchased in the USA.

Hope this helps

I feel the same way! In fact (soory for showing it again!), I am replacing my home (pool) table with the bad boy pictured below. I cannot tell you how much it cost, but I have sticks and bicycles that I paid more for! I can't wait to have it set up!!!!!

Hey is that the lucky #13?? I used to be a commercial fisherman and worked for a very superstitious guy that would have never even got near that badboy!!
Good Find!!

Fatboy, get Robert Byrne's first two books, his Standard and Advanced books on pool, and you won't need too much coaching for quite awhile if you spend a little time on the shots after you get a table.

Once you've played for awhile, you won't stare at the table wondering what to do most shots, you'll just worry about stroking the ball right and not kissing out on your shot.

Pedro Pedrobuena (hope I spelled it right) bought out College Billiards in San Diego and is a US Champion so you could get top level instruction only an hour flight away.

European heated billiard tables play fantastic. When you have a table that plays fast and holds spin like they do, playing billiards is a whole different experience. You'll love it.

I bought an Elitte Pro Spider 5x10 from the BCA trade show last year.It came with Gorina Granito M cloth, two inch heated slates and heated rails. I really like the twelve point leveling system. It only takes a few minutes to tweak the level to perfection after it settles in.The slates are 500 pounds a piece. I set mine up using a hydraulic engine hoist and nylon web sling. Roberto Rojas was sponsoring the table.I love it. I play every day. I got a really good price.
As was said in this forum when playing three cushion, be prepared to miss, miss, miss.

Verhoeven's the nutz~! My local billiards room just replaced one of their Chevilotte's with these and they play awesome.

And gambling's fun on 3C too. Just get a friendly ring game going with your friends. We usually play $1 for every successful 3C shot and $2 for cushion-first shots.

CHEVILLOTTE is the very best! EUROPA-MASTER MODEL

This is by far, in my opinion, the best carom table available.

The picture appears to be from the finals of the 2003 Las Vegas WorldCup. Sayginer won the match against Jaspers.

Hi Bob,

I searched for the table on Google images and found that photo. I love those tables. I think they have the most precise slate manufacturing and the table is perhaps the most solid framing ever.

Absolutely right - you can always get a 3-c game on a friendly basis either play for time or split it - very few arguments and attitude - as for the gambling at pool it depends on the rm - some rms are action rms others are not .

They are also VERY willing to play carom for the cash also at Chris's. It is also done with the same respect that all carom is played though. Perhaps it has something to do with the almost no slop play of carom. I have to say most time's I have seen a slop shot in carom the shooter apologizes or in some way is kind of embarassed by it. Christ in 9 ball I have seen folks just slam the balls to attempt to slop one in.
