Which Break cue would you choose out of these? Varney, Sledgehammer, Xbreaker, Predator BK2

I'd actually like the Predator, because it can double as a playing cue. When I travel I don't like to carry too many cues with me, both because I don't want to lose anything on the plane that's irreplaceable and because I don't want to lug them around.

I remember watching Efren drill Corey Deuel on 1-p, playing with someone's spare Predator break cue. They may be the most playable break cue.

Ballbusta?

A guy came through town and let me try out his jump break that he called a "ballbusta" This thing is incredible, it's made out of dymonwood, has a weird coke bottle taper and a dymonwood shaft. I've never seen a rack of nine ball explode at my hands, but this thing murders the balls. I've been poking around trying to find some info on these and all I've found is a mention in Ribdoner's profile. I talked the guy out of it for a princely sum, I'm confident it will pay for itself in no time. I haven't played on the bar tables in years, but look out, with the ballbusta, I'm usually only needing to pocket the three or four balls that stayed on the table. If you find one and have the means, you're gonna want to pick one of these up. I'll post up some pics ASAP.

Break Cue

None of those. I stick with my Mace. They are awesome. Make sure you look into one before saying those others are better. Everybody that has a Mace, swears up and down they are the best. They are expensive but worth every penny.

sledgehammer and bk2 the break cue of choice? hmmmm this poll may have swayed my decision to purchase a sledgehammer over a x breaker

If I was ever in the break cue market again, I would buy a Varney. I've never read anything but good things from his customers.

Mike Gulyassy made a Sledgehammer for right when he was halting production overseas...

Thing is a monster. Not sure how it compares to the other Type I imported models, but this cue is bar none the best I've ever had for breaking, jumping, and it evens plays well! The taper is so strong, and the balance is sweet (mine is 17.5oz)...

I'd recommend to anyone who hasn't tried a Sledgehammer to at least give it a shot. And Mike is a cool guy to work with if you're thinking the custom route...he has knocked out some ridiculous lookin' sets! :)

(Haven't had the chance to try the Samsara models yet...lookin' forward to it, though. Maybe at VF?)

I've been breaking with my Josey sneaky lately... I'm hitting them hard enough that I haven't bothered retipping my jump/break, yet...

i have an arnot i like, i used the bk2 and i really liked that but i had a harder time controling the cue ball. id like to try a varney though. i like the longer jump section.

I've got a varney that makes my normal terrible break pretty darn good. Glad that I got it. I did get it in the secondary market, so maybe paid less than a new one.

Why is there no choice for breaking with your playing cue? I find most of the time I hit them too hard anyway. Yesterday I broke and ended up with something that looked like this. Using nothing more than a mcdermott with a moori

Why are you bragging about that layout. You have two shots, one is on the 14 with the only shot after that being the 15 which leads nowhere, and the other's on the six with tough shape for a combo. Maybe you SHOULD break with another cue.

Years ago, Benny "The Goose" Conway told me that he prefers using his playing cue to break with, because switching cues breaks his momentum.

I think he posted more so on the fact that most of the balls ended up on the opposite side of the table rather than the specific layout. If so then yeah it was a pretty powerful break and would go with his point that he breaks fine w/ his playing cue. Or maybe i interpreted that completly wrong :)

Varney... hands down... I own 2

I own a Varney jump/break too. Mine just won a set for me in a league that I play in. The match was tied 3 all (race to 4) and I hooked myself on the eight. So I broke my Varney down and jumped over the object ball that was bout 5" away to win the set. You cant go wrong with a VARNEY JUMP/BREAK!

I have to disagree, I think the Omen jump break is the most "playable", hell, Larry Nevel used to use one as his playing cue...

IF! I had the money, I'd probably buy a Varney just to see for myself if it's as good as everyone says.

But, I'll stick with the Elite break cue that I have right now. It's doing a damn good job for me as is.
