Suspended or Banned AZB Members

Ok, I'm usually in the wanted/for sale section and there is always a debate or argument that goes wild over something. One person claimed so and so should be banned from blah blah.. You get the point. So, When should we consider someone to be so out of line that they need to be banned or suspended? I have seen decent easy going people get into an argument and lose their cool and maybe cuss or say something out of line. Maybe this person who did this at this point wouldn't do it again. Yet some may think he/she should be banned immediately. At what point do you consider someone should be done with? As I mentioned above, What if they lost their cool that one time and it wouldn't happen again. Should they really be banned or suspended for a first offense? Again, Simply asking your thoughts. As for me I think they should have some kind of a 3 strike 3 "X" rule. The strikes reset after each month. If you get 3 strikes within a month you get suspended for say two weeks and an "X". Only the mods can give you a strike. When you come back if you get 2 strikes within a month you get suspended for a month. Then a second "X"... After that if you get two strikes within a month again your banned as you get your third "X".. I'm sure some people will say blah blah but in the end everyone at some point or another gets into a goofy argument or debate over something and it goes to a place it shouldn't. Just think the 3 strike rule would be a great idea... Also have the "X"'s reset each year.

Fortunately for us we have moderators on the board that worry about those things so we don't have too.

JMO,

Behave yourself and you won't have any problems. Seems simple enough.

PS: FWIW, (in reference to wanted for sale forum) it looks like m.libre has won himself a free vacation.

I saw it.. That thread was a little of why I made this one and I saw fast lenny talking about some being banned. As I stated above EVERYONE at some point or another has or will have a heated debate or argument over something. It's really hard not to on this site in my opinion. I think the 3 strike deal would help a lot. I don't really care either way. I don't plan on being banned so it's not a problem for me. Was just wondering what others think.

Exactly, but...

When you're eloquent response to the heated discussion turns into -

"F$@# you, Nick"...

Well, IMO, you're just asking for the boot.

Sometimes things go a bit too far, and in that thread, I think the mods did the right thing by issuing the vacation and closing the thread.

I don't disagree about the thread being removed. I'm not sticking up for anyone either. I have just seen some banned for good over saying something like "F" you.. Simply asking if that is enough to kick someone off for good? I don't think so.. Which would make the 3 strike rule a great idea.

I think the major function of the mods is to keep civility on the forums. This site has many sub-forums and that is a great task. I have no problem with the action that they took in that situation.

There have been other situations where I have disagreed with their decisions, however with the volume of posts and members on this forum, I can see where they would just be done with it quickly instead of trying to keep a chart of who has 1 strike, who has 2, and who is hanging on by the skin of their fingernails.

This site just has too many posts, too many sub forums, too many members for that. It's best to clean it up as its generated - and I think zero tolerance sends a better message than 3 strikes you're out. That's just my view of things.

Yeah, The message is don't slip up in a heated deal or your done. I feel at times, Not all the time, You should be able to voice exactly how you feel the way you want to. Freedom of speech.. and the one and done deal doesn't let you have that right. Said with consideration on running a smooth forum. The 3 strikes will let the respectable person voice their opinion on what they think and feel at that moment with a little slack, yet at the same time can keep order. Then again I'm lacking sleep and probably have no idea what the hell I'm talking about. :p I'm done with it. :)

Bruce/pool sleuth/cocopuff cowboy has been banned a bunch. Always comes back again under a different name. Currently must be on a free pass. Was banned last night, today no. Painpool the same way.

Don't think being banned means a whole lot really unless you've done something to personally offend Mike or Mr Wilson

Vacation May Be The Correct Therapy

The biggest problem I see in the buyer/seller transactions gone wrong is not the intention to deceive on either parties part but a lack of civil communication. Granted, there are a few exceptions (whom you all know and hate) but the majority of people who deal on these forums are basically honest people, they just may lack the necessary skills to deal with problems that may occur during a transaction. Each party thinks they are in the right and if they can't agree, it can turn into a free-for-all brawl of nasty words and accusations that get way out of control. Using foul language in an open forum should IMO be a reason for the offending party to get a much needed vacation. We have a vastly diverse population reading these forums and they shouldn't be subjected to this kind of rude behavior. If you can't be tactful in the way you express you feelings and emotions maybe a vacation is the correct therapy for you.

AZ Forum Moderators...

I would have to say that the moderators of this forum have demonstrated a rather judicious use of their censoring judgement when it comes to dealing with the members of this forum. They have consistently given members the latitude to clean up their own act before stepping in. In rare cases they have acted in a "one strike, your out" manner that seemed completely in keeping with the overall tone of this forum.
Titles do not command my respect, demonstrated actions over time does. The moderators of this forum have my respect and my thanks for doing a job that, at time, would make a cat herder's job look easy.:)

Talking or typing?

IMO: It's one thing to be talking to someone and get mad then let out with the FU without thinking where you are or who your with. It's another
thing when you actually think about what to say then take the time to type it. I think the moderators on here do a fabulous job of keeping people in line and using the ban when necessary. They are very fair IMO. It is very easy to take your hands off the keyboard when someone lays into you. I have done it a few times. Life is tooooo short for a computer argument. Why not just write a nasty note and put it in a bottle in the ocean and then wait for a heated response so you can return another nasty note. It's called self control. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks for listening to my rant. :D

NO cat poop here...f'in dog keeps eating it!

(To nobody in particular,)
Don't kid yourself that you 'know' why someone was banned. Except in cases where there has be the creation of a new account by a banned/ suspended member, there is un-doobitably behind the scenes interaction between Mod(s) and User. PArameters are defined and consequences detailed.

Give the GMods credit- they want us all here. They work on commmission, don'tcha know?!
