SVB and Skyler Forfeit out of the 10 Ball Challenge Match

Well, it's possible that they have to play in Poland tomorrow. That's when the pool competition begins in the World Games. Or maybe it's something else.

Americans send their best players to the closest thing to the Olympics pool will ever see?? Nah, they would rather grumble about the state of the game.

"Americans" don't send anyone anywhere, the only national pool type organization is the BCA and they are a trade organization for vendors. They do not promote the game or pro players or a tour. If players want to go to international events, they are invited or just pay and go.

Pure greed IMO. This is why players need to get together and cut out the middle man. Johnnyt

Check the payouts!! They probably chose to rest and save their tanks for the US Open 8 ball that starts Sat!

So who would this "middle man" be? Event organizers have real expenses and quite often subsidize the events from their pockets. Go ask Mark G is doing it (US Open 10 & 8 Ball) for the profit? Hell he even had a shuttle going between the RIO and Griff's. These things don't happen for free.

Lmao. This is VEGAS!!! you can't honestly believe that.

Do you think these guys are donating their time at homeless shelters and going to church on sundays too?

Not sure if this is the worst idea I've ever heard, but there's a chance.

I do not understand why the event is not at the Rio. I have been coming here at this time of the year over 20 years and I have to say I have not been happy when the event was moved to the Rio.

Back in the day I and many others gladly paid to watch the pro players play every day. If I remember a VIP pass was $30-35 per day, and I would gladly pay that every day IF the event were held here at the Rio. As far as taking a shuttle and the paying to get in the door, forget it, it will not happen with anyone i know or myself.

The pro players were here last year playing on bar boxes. That was a bad joke as I don't know anyone that wants to watch pros on barboxes. Three was almost no one watching at any given time. My guess is that many would pay to watch them on 9 footers. If I want to watch pros play at a pool hall, I will travel around the country but I won't go when this should be at the Rio.

Yet they make the rules and decide who gets invited to the major International tournaments. What's wrong with this picture?

Dennis Orcollo didn't play because he said its bar table, he don't like cue ball, and bad payouts. I asked Tony Chohan why he didn't play and he said the cue ball. As far as forfeits I have no idea why they forfeited probably stayed up late and didn't wake up in time.

SVB could have gotten married and Sky was the best man. It is sad that your payout was so bad. I have local matches worth u times that.

So Johnny, did you forget UPA and other recent "player" driven organizations? The current pro players couldn't organize a picnic let alone a major pool tournament or tour. Players like Mike Zuglan, Oscar Dominguez and Darren Appleton can put together small events. Sometimes successfully. Do you think they do them for free? It takes MONEY. And yes, promoters like Mark Griffin expect to MAKE money for their efforts. If you put Johnny Archer in charge of a pro players group, they'll be successful. Oh wait, he failed just like all the others. Where did the players money go then? Sorry Johnny, thanks to Mark G and the folks at CSI there are several events for the pros to play in. Take CSI out and what do you have then?

Onepocket,

Were you aware that for the $10 fee at the door to watch the event, Griff's gave you a $10 coupon to buy food, drink or table time? Sounds like pretty much FREE to me. Yes, spectating was not like the old VIP days but it was pretty good!

Wish I could have stayed in Vegas for the US Open 8 Ball. I'd be at Griff's every day. So should YOU and your friends!

which cue ball?

They were using the "new" Cyclop ball sets. Cyclop is a sponsor of all CSI promoted events along with Diamond Billiard products. Most Pro players are used to the Aramith ball sets. Hate to say it but the Cyclops do play differently. Even to an amatuer like me.

Nice post. It sounds like there was no, or very little money added to the event in question by the OP. I wonder why, and I wonder why any pro players would sign up for a tournament that did not add money (or very little money). I can understand why the match was not that important to Skyler and SVB. Not worth their time I guess.
