SVB - Bank Story Clarification

Can anyone use cuetable to diagram it? Still baffled. Also, does bank pool require calling rails and is not simply call-pocket and minimum one rail?

Sounds like if shane didn't argue the point, he must have actually violated some rule he wasn't aware of. Though the other player should have made sure both players understood the game's over before he got out of his chair. Getting out of your chair and getting out balls = same as raking them.

At bank pool, the shot must be "clean" and exactly as called. In particular, you have to specify the rails in order. You don't have to mention the two rails adjacent to the pocket and they don't count as rails if the ball rattles in. The first thing the cue ball hits must be the ball to be banked -- no other ball or cushion can be first. The banked ball may not contact any ball after the first contact from the cue ball.

Here is the shot as I understand it with the two possible paths shown.

The score wasn't 7-6 or 4-3. It was 4-2 with Shane ahead and two balls tied up in the right hand corner pocket. The finals are on video so it would be nice if we could see the rack played out.

the best players in the world can have major brain farts, just think of alex when he dropped the cue ball vs shane a few years ago @ dcc and just in the reno tourney hot seat match bustamante was stuck over a ball and 1st tried stacking the bridge on a piece of chalk which wasn't allowed then instead of getting a 2nd bridge to stack on the 1st bridge he shoots a bank he has to cross that looked like it wouldn't go and he missed it

i highly doubt shane would cheat any1 and from what i've read on here it sounds like him an john are buddies anyways

You can never get the balls back 100% like you can't unring a bell once it has rung.

If the proper pocket and/or route to the pocket wasn't properly called and balls were swept, then I agree with Ken's decision to award that game to John.

The peril of implementing a new policy like Greg is suggesting would be that there could be potential abuse. Not that clever pool players would think to do such a thing. :p

And seriously, if Shane really had a momentary lapse, it truly is a lousy way to lose that game but rules are rules.

John shouldn't be penalized over Shane's mistake, right?

Best,
Brian kc

I'm with you on this.This rule sucks.John B.

I talked to Shane, John and Ken about it and still can't figure out exactly what happened. General consensus was Shane basically brain farted. Lacking further evidence I don't see it being anything more than that but I am biased as I have never seen the kid do anything out of line since I have known him.

I agree I dont think he would do anything funny

It was 4-3 Sorry... Shane needed one and John needed 2........ And Shane never moved the cueball he never finished racking so it sat where it stopped.... Ken grabbed the balls from Shane's box and John grabbed them from his own box..... Everyone had a brain fart and to tell you the truth even when the video comes out you can play it over and over and over and Shane calling 4 isn't clear even tho he admitted that was his very initial call....

I saw it at least 20 times in the booth trying to figure out what had happened and even with the instant replay it was just a train wreck......

The diagram is a little off as well the object ball was closer to the bottem rail and pocket than a spot shot... to make the 4 railer he would have had to hold the object ball coming off the first rail to come 4... He englished it instead and it slammed into the back of the pocket 2 rails.....

Professional...

... Professional pool.. really... call the shot wrong ... rake the balls.. that's OK we will put them back... NO PROBLEM...

... don't know the score... rake the balls... that's OK... we will put them back...

And I packed your favorite juice in you lunch today and make sure you eat your apple slices.... have a nice day

REALLY!

How about we listen to this guy (who it appears can pack his own lunch)

...Call each and every shot like real bank pool players do...... It's a very simple and easy thing to do......I'm pretty sure that in bank pool it's call your shot...... Anyone playing me better call their shot or they are not getting it,period...... Nobody in the "world" is good enough that they don't have to call each and every shot when playing me........I give them the same respect too......

If SVB didn't call the right pocket then he moves the ball or balls..loss of game. Pretty simple really.

NOOOO thats to HARDDDDD I need a DO OVER... ok buddy try again... Did you drink your juice?

It isnt a spasm, it isnt a fart.

You nut huggers kill me.

He called 4 made it in 2 and tried to take credit for it.

You guys remind me of politicans, just say what it is (or was).

That is cheating, call it what it is. I am not saying he raped a 12 year old girl, I am saying he tried to cheat, got caught, lost a game.

Discussions of him being disqualified, barred, whatever. Im not saying what the should have happened.

But the AZ NUT HUGGER club is always in full force.

UGH

Ken:rolleyes:

finally! some one here speaks the truth.

I blame Ken, he brought the balls to the table and signaled the rack was over. If Ken was paying attention this would have never happened. Shane was about to spot the ball until this happened.
