SVB Banned from Mosconi Cup

There are a lot of funny and interesting comments here about Shane's record in the Mosconi Cup. Lou's question about 'who else' is spot on.
I am today and have always liked and respected Shane as an accomplished player and an overall great person. But his record is not great at the Mosconi Cup.

If Shane lived in the Philippines for six months of gambling I think we'd see a way better Mosconi Cup player with Shane. There you have total mayhem in the pool halls, from roosters to dogs and cats roaming around along with all the crazy wonderful Pinoy's hanging out chatting. The chaos there would make anyone better!!

With that in mind how many others from the US have similar records ( better or worse) to Shane at the Mosconi Cup. His below 50% win record is not good and he does seem to struggle in team pool events especially this one..

It has nothing To do with pressure or noise, Shane has been in the final and won manor tournaments, gambled for lots of money and can turn off his hearing aid if he wanted to not hear anything. I’m not sure why he doesn’t do better, perhaps it’s the short races and the format
 
Shane's deafness has always made him the 'lone wolf' type player and he always will be. These type events/surroundings have never been his favorite. He's played great at times but generally he's not the 'rah-rah' zany atmosphere player. I'd love it if they asked him to be on the team and he just said 'fk that deal i'm going fishing'. He won't do that 'cause he kinda feels playing is part of being one of the top two US players(counting Gorst all the way) Which he is by a long ways.

He's played 4 times before and didn't do much. He's not the answer to those dying for a US win. I think he'd be a good pick this yr but whether his attending would mean much is debatable. He can be a colossal dick and and most Euro's hate him so why not?? ;)

Oscar would be a good addition, but I wouldn’t replace Shane with him. Billy is a good ”hype man” not a difference maker IMO

I’d swap out Shane and Styer for Morris, Hatch, and/or Dechaine/Deuel. If we’re not gunna win with the highest Fargos in the states, then let’s try it with seasoned veterans with team compatibility and momentum.

Combined with Sky and Billy, having just one or two more good teammates would be huge momentum and energy for the team and crowd. In a race to 5 i’ll take lower ranked hype men any day over a higher fargo stick in the mud. It may not be the answer, but it sure would be more entertaining to watch. If you can’t take the heat get out of the kitchen!

Exactly!! The Cup is supposed to be a great time with an attitude. That is why the Europeans are so good at it. They are great players but their personalities are even more over the top and they let it show. When the taunting starts from Shaw I really start to enjoy it!!

At least Billy brings some personality to the table and he seems a bit inconsistent at times. But when he is on a roll he will play to the crowd and get things going

Love Shaw in this event. Shaw with FSR and Alcaide get along great together, they’re all world beaters and they can still keep the team energy up with a couple introverts like Albin or Krause.

I’ll entertain this one more time, you have a right to your opinion, but Europe is just Better than us, and no amount of “hype men, and entertaining players“ Will change that. We need players , and taking Shane off the team decreases are chances of wining IMO. did you see the Reyes cup? Did you see the Filipinos dancing around, and engaging with the fans? No they proved it’s the players who win not the most entertaining!
