SVB is the best player on earth

I agree with you that SVB playing in the TAR studio is like the yankees playing at yankees stadium. In the 37 TAR matches so far Shane has been featured in like 30+? of them, nobody has been in that studio more than Shane except for Justin himself...lol.

As for who's the best, i don't care. Shane beats everyone playing in the US and gets beaten by everyone outside the US, seems like there is no world winner to me. As soon as Shane wins one of the big ones in Dubai it will be hard to argue against him.

And the winner for most blanket statements in one post goes to......

I think biado and lee van are both on the same level as dennis in 10b. I'd like see shane play both in a long race in 10b. Maybe a rematch of svb and dennis too. I think dennis was about even or better than shane on day 2 & 3.

Biado is at least 10 games under Shane in a race to 100...

Van-Van, whilst a great player, simply does not have the heart to stay with Shane for a race to 100. He has the skills, but my prediction is 100-85 in Shane's favor, because Lee Van doesn't strike me as the type of guy to come back from an 8 game deficit, which he will most likely face when Shane outbreaks him for the first day.

Lee Van Corteza specializes in the soft break/wired wing ball to even be able to stay in the big 9 ball tournaments.. I am majorly giving him the benefit of the doubt to say he would be able to stay even with Shane on any one day of a race to 100..

Biado might have the break, but he isn't methodical enough to beat Shane. Shane will beat him simply on percentages and decision makin in tough spots.

Nobody blames you for having Shane on every TAR match. You've said it before that nobody will pay to see some random unknown no matter how good he is, but you can't say that Shane is not more comfortable in the TAR studio when he's spent 200hrs more than anyone else in there.

Just because one tournament has been arbitrarily given a ridiculously overweighted amount of points, means nothing.

Hohmann made $50,000 less than Van Boening so far. You tell me how legitimate that list is.. Seems to me the concept from The Hustler seems most apropos:

You measure who's the winner by who has more money. That's the only thing that matters.

But hey... Hohmann has a REAL NICE tin cup... :-)

If you had to pick one player, from anywhere in the world, and put up $100K of your money to play a race to 50 ten ball. Who would you pick? I know it's close, but I would pick Shane now, over all of the Pinoys. (not familiar enough with the other Asians to say that)

The All-Japan Championship is coming this Nov.18. and "all of the Pinoys" will probably be there, including the top Chinese and Taipei players. Would you bet 100K that Shane will win this title?

Big diff from what he is saying

He likes Svb if he plays anyone a 1 on 1 tourney

... No idea whether Bustamante was there, but that event doesn't have an elite international field and it uses the truly comical "option to refuse the table after a miss" rule. ...

The SBE Players Championship did not use the option-on-a-miss rules this year. The format was single elimination, 2 out of 3 races to 8, all slop counts except the 10-ball on the break when the racker was breaking. So it wasn't even real 10-ball (call shot), just Texas Express using 10 balls.

The rules used there have changed from year to year recently.

Come on

Quit dancing. You have played all of the best with the same spots or close. I know you beat Darren in a long race with the 8, I think and lost to some of the pinoys and Shane with a bigger spot (7,8 I think) gambling. Just tell us all who is the best and so on.... You are the peoples champ!

My guess is you would rather play one than another and they are all close, and maybe it is in small part about your styles. I would guess Shane might say Busti, Dennis, Darren or Alex may be his toughest opponents but it doesn't mean that you(Chris)would rather play them in the same order. Ask Billly I. he said he gives more weight to money won than games etc.... Shane is the top of the money list every year it seems like and who knows about the cash not seen.

i see. but that would just be a match and not a tourney, right? you see, a race to 50 would still be a match - it only proves who the better player is. a tournament is different - you deal with different players, and dominating among these players hence winning the tournament makes you the best.

Yes but then you would have to pick just 1 player then he picks Svb

It's not the same saying ill take Svb and give you the field

Svb hands down is the best 10 ball player I have ever played
Dennis plays as good or better but the break is so big that it makes Svb a big fav over him or anyone
I don't know outside of the USA but over here if Svb plays anyone a long gambling match of ten ball I would bet on him

There is no question that Shane can top Earl's mark at the open, but as you know it's so difficult to win tournaments of this magnitude just once let alone three times. Look at all the hall of famers that never won this tournament. It will be interesting to see what happens if Shane doesn't catch or pass Earl by the time he is 40. At what point does he burn out. Take Sigel for instance, by the time he reached 40 he stopped dominating tournaments and wasn't even playing many events. Varner on the other hand was at his best at 40 when he won back to back US Opens.

I personally do believe he is the best rotation player in the world and I would like to see him beat Earl's record. Hopefully there will still be a US Open in further years and there always the chance that Earl could sneak in one more title although unlikely.

It's interesting to note Sigel's history in that event. He feels he has won it 4 times, since he won an event in that location before it was named the U.S. Open. But let's use the official number -- 3 wins.

Sigel won his first one at age 24 (same as Van Boening, if their birthdays on Wiki are correct), his second one in his late 20's (28 for Sigel, 29 for Van Boening), and his third one at age 31 (30 for Van Boening). Sigel never won another one after that. It ain't easy!

LOL "flavor of the month". Yeah, he's a (6-year) "flash in the pan". Keep practicing SVB & you might be somebody...someday...somewhere...

Shane is not the best player in the world in general but his rises to that level in any given tournament.

Do you consider him the best all around player or Alex? anyone else? Hey thanks by the way for validating some of these discussions with facts as to how you have personally played them.
