Hohmann's answer, essentially, has been "Yeah, I run more balls that way."Is the risk of scratching worth playing that type of break shot?
Is 308 his personal best ever (not just here)? And there it ends -- 308 -- with a scratch on the break shot. His personal best, right?
I think so. Bobby C. has mentioned Shane's previous best several times, and it was a few over 300, but I forget the exact number. Is 308 his personal best ever (not just here)?

He scratched right after taking a break. Wonder if that had anything to do with it.It’s like driving a car
Chance of a crash on a 1 mile drive is pretty low.
Chances of a crash on a 500 mile drive are 500X higher.
It’s linear without nerves. Add in nerves and lots can go wrong on a high run.
I made 53 spot shots in a row once. The 50th one I rattled in, was the most difficult-the mind can do funny things.
We’ll see,

Just 8, a hanger.might be a sound risk/reward calculation for a straight pool match, as in a race to 125. but that's just 8 breaks
That might be your safest bet of all time, depending on how you define "pool players."... I bet less than 5/1000 pool players can run 125& out.
I have to play it safe….That might be your safest bet of all time, depending on how you define "pool players."
He got to 300 doing it.Is the risk of scratching worth playing that type of break shot?
He got to 300 doing it.
I know, but he must feel comfortable with it or he wouldn’t use it.He didn't use it on every single break shot.
Booooo.Damn. Scratched on the break (in the upper right corner pocket)...

He also didn’t get stuck in the rack.
i read that someone used Dr. Dave's Table Difficulty Factor, and this event table is rated 'very easy'. That doesn't include the cloth, just the table size, pocket sizes and shelf.since big runs also depend on the playing conditions.
pocket size
type and speed of cloth
temp and humidity in the room
it would be nice to give some rating of the playing conditions.
