SVB v Orcollo

Seriously? Has nothing to do with that. Have you watched one second of this? The format is a joke. It makes the break meaningless. Go challenge the best 9b/10b you can find and tell him you'll match up but his break doesn't mean shit. I can hear the laughter from here.
No one forced Shane to play this match.

Shane and Dennis should just play some high-dollar one pocket.

HUH??????? Its just as bad. You line them up and basically have no shot other than a safety. Might as well just have the ref dump the balls out and alternating ball in hand to start. At least you might see some runs.
I'm not saying it's my favorite idea, but it's better than forcing them to pushout or 0lay safe every time. That's too monotonous. Spotting balls would at least add variety based on how many balls are pocketed. Players could move the cue ball down table in anticipation of playing safe off the spotted balls like back in the rollout days. I think it would at least be interesting for a set or two. ;)

What if BnRs became winner break? IOW keep going. String out the set if you can. Otherwise, instead of switch break on multi inning racks, lag every break. This would add some impetus to BnR, and still keep the footing level.

Sharks has been hosting top international pro's to play the top Filipino pros for about one year now. All the matches have this format. It wasn't changed only for Shane/Dennis. They are all exhibitions, not gambling.
No it has been changed. Last time they played (less than a year ago) they were not playing by these rules. The only odd rule was rotate the break.

It's simply a different game that takes the break out of the equation and focuses more on safety play, shot-making, and tactics. Yes, it's different from traditional 10-ball, but so what? If you don't like it, then fine.

I've always said that variety in pool is good. If players don't like the format, then they are free not to participate in the tournament.

Personally, I don't care for the monster break and easy run. I'd rather see a tactical game with tight pockets and lots of safety play. IMHO, there's nothing more boring than watching a top pro making two balls on the break and running a wide-open rack. The only rule I would change is mandatory push after the break (don't allow the safety).
There's a game like that called One Pocket. You should check it out.

Why even break the balls…?

In theory, there is some skill in deciding whether to play safe or push out after the break, and maybe a good 10 ball break would impact that analysis (but not in practice given the result here).

If I remember correctly, SVB won easily against Orcollo when it was winner break. Then it was close when it was alternate break. And now with no break Orcollo runs away with it.

And I said nice things about the Brunswick ball polisher you made! I retract those compliments; you should have checked out a diamond polisher :)
If there was a 'Tool-ish Post of the Year' award you just snagged it. Props bro.

Sigh. Didn't you notice the smile emoji? I was making a joke. Trust me, when it comes to the game of pool, I don't have a sarcastic bone in my body...pool is my fun and relaxation - I never would get angry, excited or sarcastic shooting the bull about pool stuff.

so what??? taking the break completely out is ludicrous. i tried watching a bit today but its nothing but contrived made-4-tv shit.
