SVB vs Chohan 1P

the reason there are not too many pros who post on azb anymore is because of all the "know it alls" running them off with all the bs

Complete and total BS.

I've been around the forums for about 25 years and I like having pros around as much as the next guy. But what I have observed over the years is that most often the pro does not know how he does what he does anymore than prodigies or naturals at any other sport. And so, you end with guys trying to describe and explain how to play pool and often (usually) those explanation don’t resonate with the populace here, are just based in faulty logic, or can even be proven to be flat out wrong.

For me I’d rather read what an articulate and aspiring amateur has to say. They often bring a wealth of varied experience, knowledge and intelligent discussion to the table, rather than a pro who will not tolerate any questioning. (Meanwhile their fanboys are wringing their hands wailing, “Oh please don’t harass him -- you’ll drive him away.”)

And what is that “harassment?” Here, it has most often been polite questioning and the proffering of divergent opinions and scientific explanations. The response has often been bumper sticker logic and fortune cookie insights and to those of you that like that stuff I say: mazel tov. But many of us like a little more substance than that. So wail away if you must. But please remember: people can and should disagree here -- it’s a discussion forum and as long as it’s polite, all points of view should be welcome.

The pros don't hang here because everyone isn't automatically kowtowing to their wonderfulness and swallowing what is often stinky bait.

You don't like Tony trash talking, but ironically you are now trash talking Tony for doing so? Why not lead by example? Why hold him to a standard you can't follow?

I have never seen so much disrespect for the players as in this forum. My friend follows MMA and says that on the forums he follows they have a hard rule of not disrespecting the fighters.

I can't take it anymore. I've never used the ignore feature for 15 years on these forums but I'm starting today.

Tony was up 4-0 on ball count at 22-23, this was the closest match possible other than a 7-7 hill-hill. To think this is some narrative of a short stop being put in place by a world champ is so delusional it can't be reasoned with, it just has to be ignored (based on another's comment about how SVB could've pulled away whenever he felt like). And I am going to ignore anyone that disrespects players from now on.

You can ignore me too. Totally fine. It's a big world. But I'm posting this for other people like me who didn't really know how the ignore button worked. Don't quit AZB. Just ignore.
Like you, I've never used the ignore button, simply because I don't take an internet forum serious enough to put much stock in it. I can see how it is probably different when people you know or respect are being dissed.

I tend to look at this place like a virtual pool hall. Every surrounding table is going to have different skill levels, different belief systems, different aiming systems, different political affiliations, and different intelligence levels. All of these things are interwoven to create our very small corner of the world, the pool hall.

You are absolutely right.

And just like in a pool hall you don’t have to be friends with everybody.

And just like in a pool hall if people started spreading nasty lies about other people I would call it out.

Gorst does not have to "pursue 1 pocket", all he has to do is play it. He can beat any one pocket player alive, IMO, at any game.
I think you will be spot on right in 2 years.

Currently he’s competitive at any game playing anyone on the 9’ box with 2 ¼” balls and 4.25” pockets. He’s not a lock to beat everyone every time. That’s impossible.

However over the next 2 years he will come closer to being able to win every time. Everyone is playing for 2nd or 3rd. Hard to discount Filler. Between Gorst & Filler everyone else has their hands full.

With short race format tourneys that equalizes things a bit and Gorst will lose here and there. But he’s the guy to beat. He’s the whole package. Best talent to pop up in 20 years I’d say.

It’s going to be fun to watch this develop in pool. Now with matchroom saying they want to blow up 9B(time will tell) it will be even better. How many more kids in Poland will pop up-those guys are for real too. And the Ko’s. Exciting time in pool. I think the dry spell for pool is coming to an end. New talent, more to bet on!🎰🎰

When you say Matchroom wants to blow up 9 ball, do you mean have it die out and replace it with a different game? Or try to make it even more popular than it already has been for the last 30 years?

Barry Hearn is on Karl Boyes YouTube channel talking about MR pumping up 9B like they have snooker and darts. Let’s hope that happens.

It ain’t over till it’s over! A lot of pool still to be played.
I’m still here in Vegas and was set to do some commentary on this match…….until I caught a dose of Covid. Bad cough and very sore throat, confined to quarters in my hotel room. Seems to be subsiding but I won’t be going to the poolroom.
Oh no!
Good health and a quick recovery to you Jay ❤️‍🩹 🙏

Turned out to be not so easy to kick. I'm triple vaxed and that did not protect me. I had three miserable days (T,W,Th), where my throat was so sore I could not eat or drink, swallowing was just too painful. Finally on Friday I began to eat again, the pain in my throat had subsided, but I still had an intermittant, rasping cough that just wouldn't go away. I thought that would be the end of it, so today I stopped taking my meds and waited for it to go away. Wrong! The cough persisted all day and now I'm back on meds until I really have it wiped out.

The fact that I'm a super senior probably makes me more susceptible and my symptoms more severe than someone younger and with a better immune system. I can't help but wonder how many people got sick at the MC (I heard there were many). 2500 people in a closed room for hours and most of them not wearing masks. If anyone else on here was there I'd like to know you fared.

I will only say this, Covid is real and it's not going away! If you are attending any event indoors with crowds of people I strongly suggest you mask up. I learned my lesson this past week.

It's not just that few were wearing masks -- most were screaming at one time or another. I had Covid in June -- mild case -- and I imagine it protected me. I got it at the BCA Expo which was definitely a super spreader event.

Curious, did you test pos. for covid or just assuming that's what it was? Reason i ask is symptoms are same for the flu.
