Is this recent!!

Maybe from the World Ten Ball tournament? Looks like Jay Helfert is sitting down next to a nice woman!!

It is at players den former rack and roll. Near oneside in manila.

Yes, the the Players Den. Lots of Poker too in this place.

I see the father and son Dominguez in the crowd. Jay H and the sweetie seated on the sofa. Efren coming in towards the end of the link shaking hands with Jonathan Sy. This is fairly recent and most likely before the WTBC as Shane didn't want to play when the tourney started.

thanks for the link, i think its great to get to see all the top players in a room like this. i have noticed in this one and others though that Jose Parica is never around. does anyone know if he goes to things like this in the phillippines.

This was a great match. The tables are AMF with Simonis 920. I had never heard of this brand of cloth... super fast. The table was pretty crooked, but my dad couldnt stand it, so we leveled it before the match. haha, even on vacation he works. If im not mistaken the bet was 150,000PHP. Right after Kiamco played shane for 100,000PHP, Kiamco played great and won.

Jherome Pena, Busty, Johnathan Sy (stakehorse), Janno, Effy and his brother, and lots of unknown monster players in the background that nite. The match immediately to the right was by far the most entertaining of the night. The short guy with the hat and a lefty pinoy. Funniest thing ever when they went hill hill and the short guy dogged the 10 and johnathan sy fell to the ground in disappointment. lol, he played safe though and ended up winning.

The philippine pool community are gonna eat pretty good b/c of some Americans. All of us booked losers there, at least those who gambled. Shane, Stevie, myself. Lots of fun though...

That was Bert Pasay wearing a white hat with big tummy... very funny guy. But Bert doesn't shoot lefty, he can shoot both hands. :D

I was at Oneside when Stevie Moore loss to Lolong and then to Jherome Pena. You and your father were watching on the bar. I think Stevie gave Lolong the 8-9 and Jherome gave Stevie 8-9. Stevie and Lolongs' game went Hill-Hill. I forgot what score was Jherome vs Stevie, but it was pretty close.

What was that one guy doing on the table? It looked like he was picking lint or something off the table several times throughout the match, while the players were shooting. Not one of the players, I think he was racker.

Thanks for posting videos.

"Only in the Phils"... The referee marks chalk very near the balls you'll be shooting above at. When it moves, it will be off that marking.

Lol, that racker marks the balls with baby powder. If you move an object ball, they know exactly where to put it back. Those guys sharked the living sh-- outta me so many times its sick when i played. Most foreigners arent used to that, the tables play really wet and they play like monsters. Tough action. lol

but the awesome thing about the PI is that they play. No BS. They step up. I liked that. Its tough to win, Shane lost A LOT there. If they played in the States, Shane probably has the better end of most of the games, but in PI, the conditions are so different. Not an easy task to get used to them... like i said though, lots of fun. Totally different atmosphere in comparison to States...

You know what is as well? If you really pay attention you will see that the Filipinos get "out of line" a lot. Then they have to go "the wrong way" to get the cueball to the right spot. I think that years of doing this had made these types of shots routine. In other words you don't get to the top of the Filipino food chain without becoming the type of player who treats those out-of-line shots as normal.

You can really see the difference in how they approach the game. In America we are taught to stay on the "right" side of the ball and avoid the "wrong" side at all costs. Thus we don't practice enough of "wrong side" position that they excel at.

At least that's one thing I see as far as playing style goes.

Do you know where that style came about? It's from playing rotation where the player needs to maneuver around more obstacles thus needing to accept a lot of "out of line" shots.

The guy with the cap is Roberto "Bert Pasay" Dy, the lefty he's playing was Fidel "Tony Bukbok" Punzalan.
It's good to hear you enjoyed your R&R while doing some "business" on the side in the Philippines!

Great match

It was nice to watch this. I just finished and have to say, Corteza can flat play. His stroke is unique from other Pinoy's. It almost looks like sort of "push stroke", similiar to maybe Hopkins. I agree with Watchez, DON"T F WITH THE PINOYS!!

How much U.S. dollars were they betting?

You're probably talking about the shot to the 9 going to the 10 in the first video, Lee Vann went the "other"
pocket to get perfect position on the 10. I don't think he intentionally did that, he came up short on his CB
position on the 9 and has to improvise, it happens a lot in Rotation, were you have to avoid running into the
other 14 balls JB...

Haven't seen it yet, because I am off to a tournament myself, but will definitely look at it later!

Nice to see my favourite Filipino, "one-tooth" Lolong, beating some Americans :D
