What's GOING ON WITH IM ?
For sometime he was the badest poolplayer on earth in 07,
Now don't seem like he not feard by anyone no more .
Does this mean he's going to be another gambler on just in a slump..I hope he can get back up to speed..
I thank he is great for the sport..

Where were you that you noticed other pool players not being feared by SVB?

Has someone that you know offered to play him 10 ball for $10,000 that he turned down?

I was around SVB for the past 3 days and no one was running up to ask him to play some.

Now don't seem like he not feard by anyone no more (everyone read this sentence 3 times please = maybe a triple negative equals a positive??)

A double negative equals a positive.
A triple negative equals a negative.

There are lots of things that go into this. It could be a slump or maybe he is not into it like he was. Maybe he needed a little break from all of it. It is very easy to be critical of a man from the cheap seats. Getting to the top of your game is the easy part. Mantaining that form and focus is the toughest part of all. Living that life is often nearly as glamorous as it appears.

SVB is a strong player, but IMO has not nearly reached his full potential. He has much to learn and no telling what he learned in just the past ew months. It takes time to take all this in and get your brain around it.

He will be back and could someday be the best there is. What, he is only 23?

Hmmm, not feared by anyone no more?

Well lets see, SVB offered weight to some big names in the back room of Qmasters during the recent US Open and was turned down.

SVB was in Fayetteville NC for the GBST Championship tournament for a full week and got no 10-ball action.

SVB still a feared monster.

Yep, SVB is washed up. He didn't even win the US Open & W10B back-to-back this year. He can't even beat Alex everytime they play. Geez, what a fluke he was!

Let me be clear:

I DO NOT FEAR PLAYING SVB

...as long as we play for $1 a game.

Not true... he got 12 hours of 10 ball action from me :D And $300 for the lessons.

So you payed him $25 and hour for lessons, not a bad investment for the knowledge you probably gained. However, nobody stepped up to the plate for high stakes.

It's possible we could have been playing for $300 a game for all you know and I quit 1 game stuck after 12 hours. Or it's remotely possible that we were playing 10 a game and I quit 30 games stuck. I'll just keep that under wraps though.

I spoke to SVB the other night, we are friends. I really like him-not because he is a great player-but because he is a great person! Anyways he asked me if a certin player would like to bet high real high, I said how much he said "At least $50,000 possibly $70,000". This is the Gods honest truth-I wont say who as I dont want to start rumors but he wasnt kidding.(its not me-thank goodness I cant fade him)

It is true he isnt winning like he was but he was on a winning streak that might be impossible to duplicate, Shane has the brightset future of any American player his age.

Scott Frost did beat him playing bar table 9 ball heads up, 2 nights ago, they played race to 15? it went hill/hill so they extended it-4 times by the end of the night I think they played 100 games before Scott beat him, SVB was triple tired, he is in Malta and excited to be on the M-Cup team!!!

His girl is beatiful I played her for an hour she broke and ran a rack too! they are a great couple and I'm very happy for them!!!

Like I said I'm a Shane fan NOT because of pool he is a great man.

Or.... he had you 60 games stuck at $5 a game. :D

My point is nobody at the tournament wanted to put multiple dimes into action againist SVB.

Wasn't he giving Frost the 8 / 10 the other night on the live feed?

Neither were playing great, but it shows the respect is still there.

And in my experience, winning in tournaments (at any level) is a combination of playing well, getting the right rolls at the right time, and hanging in there.

It goes in streaks.

I was playing great (for me) a few weeks ago and getting knocked out of local tournaments in 2-3 matches. Very frustrating to say the least.

But, this past weekend I played pretty mediocre, but I hung in there and won two, one from the loser's side in three HILL-HILL sets in a row, and then the next day a local "tournament of chumpions" with 40+ players in it. I didn't play great, I have no illusions I was the hottest player in the room even, let alone the whole town, but that day things worked out.

The guys that know what SVB is doing, and how he's playing behind the scenes, know the real story. Tournament wins are only half the story.

As long as we are playing 9 ball and 10 ball with so many good players out there, no one will dominate for any significant period of time.

He seems very humble in appearance. Kinda of like a American Efren Reyes... If SVB is in a slump this year after making nearly 150,000 in earnings thus far then i would love to see what he can do when he is clicking...
SVB is EXACTLY what Fatboy described....Great man for the game and life.

and Justin Bergman asked for the 7 ball playing 10 ball.

I'd just like to say as other posters have also, that tourny wins dont equall your best play. This weekend svb played great but couldnt catch a break coming to the table after someone elses break (catapillar shot) When he was on that massive winning streak he was playing very well but in addition to playing well you need ALOT of things to go your way. I think he is still playing triple strong and is the favorite is just about any american field
