Yep FB their just wingin' it.
At best.
I’m horrible at interviews, I’ve only done a couple. I was horrible, reason being is like anything it takes practice and training.
For example tiger woods, his first few interviews were horrible. Then after a abort period of time when they realized Tiger was the real deal-his interviews improved a bit. Then with some more practice and a PR firms help, he was a great interview, said all the right things and engaged his audience. That was a product of coaching & practice. It’s not automatic.
Some people are naturally more adept and well spoken and might be a good interview quicker.
Another thing to ponder is how SVB was feeling. He’s played pool effectively his whole life-his goal was a WC. I know-HE TOLD ME. Not guessing about that. How good can a guy talk or gives a shit about talking when he’s on cloud 9,10,10,12 right after he realizes a life long dream that required him sacrificing so much to get there? That’s the last thing I’d want is someone demanding answers me from in that moment of my life. Or some walk down memory lane as to how I got there! The tourney is over, he won. Let him enjoy HIS moment.
The next day, ask him all those questions. When you win you have a wonderful feeling. Reliving being a billion games behind Shaw is the LAST thing SVB wanted to talk about. And it’s in the books, can discuss it later.
How do you feel? That’s the interview right there. I think it was clear how he felt-leave the man alone. The pressure is off. No better feeling in the world. And a horrible time to talk about how you got there when it’s documented. We all saw the same thing.
Look at Ronnie in snooker. Wine year after winning the WC the first or 2nd sentence he said was “I’m up & down like a whores drawers in life”. He was still by the snooker table. Was around 10-12 years ago I was Germany watching. I couldn’t believe he said that. And he’s had coaching and does good interviews. But at that moment he didn’t want a mic in his face.
These guys are pool players, not media presenters and we shouldn’t expect much from them after a major victory, especially their first WC.
SVB did just fine and he won
