SVB's bad decision cost him dearly

alstl: I like your posts but you always go out of your way to manually type that "but I'm just a banger who cares what I think". You having self-esteem issues or what? >_<

There are two possibilities. Either I'm laying a trap or I'm just putting my opinions in the context of my playing ability.

What is your speed by the way?

THAT'S why I have no chance against you playing banks!

JoeyA

Joey, what if I gave you 9-8 in full rack Banks, would you give me 9-8 in One Pocket? How about 8-7 both ways? We can figure out the bet later.

I've mentioned it a few times for anyone who wants to search =)

I don't want to come off like I'm ragging on you. I just don't see the percentage in mentioning it every post though. To be honest it comes off like false modesty. I can't imagine you seriously want people to ignore your opinions. Why post 'em in the first place if that were true?

I'd rather figure out the bet first, then we can talk about how much weight you're going to give me.

JoeyA (will take weight at both games if that's what Jay wants)

Hurry, Hurry, read all about it!

If you two can get things sorted out quickly enough, maybe Joey vs. Jay could be the undercard match for Bartram vs. Appleton. :grin-square::D:grin-square:

What should this matched be named?

Remember the "Rumble in the Jungle" or the "Thrilla in Manilla" and my all time favorite: "Two Geezers at Ceasers". lol!

Any suggestions? ;)

Best,
Brian kc

Eh, I can see you've somehow mistranslated this as some sort insult or pissing contest. When I say I've mentioned it a couple of times I mean literally like 3 times in 3,500 posts. And it was not to brag (I am C+ to B-, what's to brag about?) but to elaborate as to where I'm at when I'm asking for advice on how to bring my game up.

I meant no harm. My point is that you don't have to rag on yourself and it's not necessary to put a disclaimer on all your posts. We all understand that the forum will be a mixed bag and not every person chiming in will be a certified pro. That doesn't mean that the poster's advice is useless, as I'm sure you already know.

With hindsight, seeing that Shane had tremendous difficulty making the bank even after the match was over, I may have tried rolling up on the 6 ball and try to freeze the cue ball on the six.

It's not easy to bank a ball on a tight Diamond table if the cue ball is frozen to it or close to frozen.

the opponent could not hide the cue ball behind the 7 & 8 so that pretty much left two other balls to hide behind. Frozen to the object ball and maybe jacked up, further impedes the opponent from shooting with perfect speed to hide behind the 9 or 10.

Lots of BAD things can happen to your opponent if he is froze to the 6 ball. A slightly better angle and Shane would have made the bank. A completely different angle and an even better safety could be managed. And God forbid if your opponent fouls the cue ball while tryin to play a safety off of the frozen 6 ball and cue ball. :D

In one pocket (and in this particular case 10 ball), my shot suggestion is normally a weak move but when there appears to be danger with every option, simplicity is often your best friend.

Joey, I like the way you match up. If you ever make a game, I'm betting on you!

Did it look to you like he could have avoided the 7 entirely? Sure did to me, but I realize we didn't have the best angle.

Aaron

I remember seeing him hit that and first thing I thought was "Why did he play the cue ball into the 7?". The shot to take looked to be follow and go 3 rails around back to where the 6 was. From what the shot looked like on the screen he had to hit it hard anyway to shorten the bank or he'd get a double-kiss. Maybe even apply some spin to get the ball back short, then he can hit more of the right side to go into the rails.

I feel like I'm in school being scolded by a school teacher. This is an internet forum about a game and when I was a kid I enjoyed this particular game far more than school probably because I never was very good at falling in line and following directions.

But then, I'm just a banger.

shot

I believe he though the 6 bank was a near 100% shot and it is except on the Diamonds when the OB is close to the rail and nearby the pocket facing. This shortens up the bank alot.

He could have hit it right with lots of left hand spin and come 3 rails to the 7 ball but thats alot of CB travel to risk coming up short and requires a biggger hit with less control.

As far as the 7 ball is concerned I feel he knew he would run into it and yes it may well go in, but the 6 ball was still his primary objective in a called ball shot. If the 7 stayed up it would have been in the corner pocket because of the 8 anyway.
