Most impressive was how he handled the $100 a man game with SVB and Mika. I thought John would drop out. Instead he said sure, he would continue to play with only these two giants left. He then proceeded to beat the game, and make believers out of SVB and Mika. I watched it all and the kid came with shot after shot, and never flinched once.
After that night, he could walk through the action room (full of high speed hustlers) and no one made a peep in his direction. John Morra has arrived!
I think Shane has been a Godsend for pool in North America. If he can do it, so can someone else. There is more than one young champion coming up in this hemisphere. Landon may beat them all some day. Let's see how he plays when he is 15 or 16.
I am seeing somewhat of a revival of professional pool in North America right now. There are more tournaments and more players getting involved on a local and national level. Maybe the prize money isn't any better, but in a tough economy, winning a few thou in a local weekend event ain't so bad. Just ask Stan Tourangeau how he feels after making a side trip to Phoenix prior to the U.S. Bar Table. That $4,260 pay day wasnt too shabby.
