Sweet Tooth Billiards-Glendale AZ

If you would have checked azpoolscene.com in the past few days you'd see it right on the front page. :D

They opened up last Friday. They have no scheduled pool tournaments yet, as they want people to come in and check the place out on their own time at first.

They are not open 24/7 yet, but will be soon.

jerry, they are still open late correct? i

Oh yeah! They are open late and have poker tournaments running at all hours. 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 2 a.m. to start with.

Any diamond table is $7.80/hour. Flat rate of $6 from 2 p.m. - 7 p.m. Dynamo's for rent or quarters.

Tournaments will be coming for pool, but it will take a little while yet.

It's the only room in the Phoenix Area with Diamonds. Come and get ready for BCA. Not sure when, but within the next month they will be open 24/7.

Well honestly Jerry with all the talk of the place, I would have thought someone would have said they opened.

Honestly seldom check your site, as I pick up to two local papers for tournament listings.

Well, then you should find out they opened last week in about 2 or 3 weeks when the next issues are finally distributed.

You would think that with you being on the internet 24/7 that you'd check a source that is updated every day over waiting to read old news from tournaments that ran 30+ days ago. Guess not....

What other bar/pool room has these Diamonds? Or are you talking about the old Diamonds?

All 4 of Sweet Tooth's Barboxes and the 3 - 9 footers have the pro-cut pockets. And I think I even talked Mike into getting a 4th - 9 footer as there is plenty of room.

Jerry,

Has Diamond recently changed their pocket design? What does "pro-cut" mean, and how do they differ from the old ones?

Skip and Jans has Diamonds, old or not they are Diamonds and play just as tight as the ones at Sweet Tooth. The place is nice and Mike has done a good job, dont know if the $7.80 per hour is per player or per table but that might be the only negative thing I have seen besides the lack of booze.I do like the layout there, poker and pool is like heaven, nice room and I hope he does well with it. :)

Back in the day when Pooch was running Skip/Jan's (formerly known as Pooch's), those Diamonds played flawless. Oh those were the days....

The good old days are gone for now, and someday may return.:(

I believe Jimmy has a Diamond and you people can go over there any time you want. Consider this your invitation.

I honestly don't understand the excitement about Diamonds as I had play on the one at Alexander's before they shut down, and my impression was different than a Valley but not differently.

Guess it is like discussing the BEST of anything, or Car, sope people will never drive nothing but a FORD.

It just means they have the tighter pockets. 4 1/2", even on the bar boxex. These are the same tables that are used for the BCA and the DCT Finale. Most Barboxes have 'buckets' or 5" pockets. Even the old Alexanders Diamonds had the larger pockets.

Bar owners like putting large pockets in their bars so that more games are played thus creating more revenue. Mike wants to have the best tables. Anyone can play on these tables and get ready for Vegas or whatever.

Lenny - $7.80 is per table not player. He does have a flat rate of $6 between 2 and 7 p.m. Plus I know he'll have a daily rate besides that in the future. They are just getting started.

I spoke with him last night and he is going to have some free pool tournaments as well.

I will most likely be running a warm-up tournament or two for the BCA out of there, including a Scotch-Doubles.

it's simple

That's because it takes a pool player to understand the difference.

Well $7.80 per table is a bargain then. The Diamonds at Skip and Jans are the same pocket wise but they are not in the best of shape, need to be recovered, but they are built to last that is for sure. :)

No Rick that is not the reason, as I understand, and can see the difference. I just don't get warm and fuzzy about a Diamond Table, as I'm more concerned with Clean Cloth, Good Rails with Equal Action, and Clean Balls not that name on the Table.

BTW Lenny speaking about recovering tables, has Jimmy done them ALL (the big Tables0 at Kolby's as when I saw you there last lets say some were very in need of attention.
