Table felt color

So, the implication is....if you don’t see it, it doesn’t exist and can be ignored? Maybe then everyone with green cloth should just buy green chalk and forget about cleaning the table?

Let me guess. You were a hall monitor in high school. I still clean my table despite the chalk not showing. I just didn't like seeing the blue on the green. Jeeeez.

Sorry, just pointing out the obvious. The easier it is to see, the easier it is to clean up effectively.
P.S. I was always the kind of guy that justified the existence of hall monitors (constantly sneaking out for a smoke).

Personally, if I were to have a table in my home, I'd want blue green. As in the Simonis color scheme. I just really like that colour for pool. The standard pool/snooker style of green is nice for playing, but I wouldn't want it in my home. Blue is nice for tournaments.

I have a table I bought years ago, but I don't have it set up as it takes too much space. I have powder blue cloth for it. It was the rage at the time I bought it. Its ok and will look ok in most interiors as will tan. I do, however, think blue green is nicer as in my opinion it tends to bring out the colour of dark exotic woods as used in most pool tables. If the table was a light colour, then I'd probably use blue.

When I got my table, it had decent Tournament Blue on it. I ordered Championship Worsted Ultra in Championship Green. That was some of the last of the Worsted Ultra they had at the time. It was due to the tariffs going up.... they stopped production.

Dont regret going back to good ol green. I guess if all of your local leagues and tournaments used the blue, I would probably stick with blue.... that way you are used to playing on it. All of our area uses green.

Meh.... Go with what you like. There is no win to this age-old argument, as it's purely opinion.... Arguing this is like arguing that the color of your car is better than the other guy.

Whatever color cloth makes you happy, that's what you should get.

Nobody is arguing. We're just recommending colors like the OP asked us to do in so many words. Any additional dialogue posted is just us telling the OP why the color we recommend is why we chose it.

No uncivilness intended....this is just one of those things that IMHO is silly to ask 'the public' about....but I digress....I'll step aside and watch the next 3 pages blossom with posts of preferences of either blue or green cloth, and anything else is blasphemy...this subject is very worn out...

As is roughly 70% of all other threads here on AZB. But, what are ya going to do, shut the site down over lack of new material???

People want opinions, people give opinions. That's how most discussion forums operate.

I'm no different than you. I think this site, like many others, are the final resting grounds for many a well-beaten horse. The "what tip is best" or the "what cue should I buy" threads do nothing to actually help the ones asking, unless they want to choose from about 40 different answers. That said, when some newbie comes here and asks what equipment he/she should purchase, I will usually respond to them of what I prefer and why I prefer it.

I'm not disagreeing with your first post, just saying that we should all just suck it up and be used to it. It's obviously not going away.

Maniac (still recommends green cloth on an antique table )

Hardly 'new material'....a simple search would have yielded many threads asking this very question with lots of opinions & examples. :)

Lack of new material?> Might I suggest moseying down to NPR? You'll never use that term again around here!! :killingme:

I treat NPR like the coronavirus....I stay as far away from it as I can!:grin::grin:

I get enough entertainment right here on the Main Forum. ;)

Me too. Especially in a room with green walls and blinds. Blue would be awful in that sea of green. I still like blue. Here is the same table.in.the same room with green and then blue...you be the judge.

Sent from the future.

Pink 4 balls, blue cloth, jump cues, etc.
How much satisfaction would a baseball player get from breaking the Babe’s record with an aluminum bat?
Playing with tradition equipment connects you to the greats of yesteryear (IMHO).

Curiously enough, green chalk makes green cloth look like a mess.

I play better on Tan for some reason.
Tan/camel is an awesome color to play on, although not a great contrast when shooting at the one ball or the nine ball. It would be a great color cloth for a home table, but the problem with it for a pool hall is the customers that come in with their own cues and use their own chalk. Blue chalk marks do not easily come off of tan colored cloth, which as a room owner I found out the hard way.

Like others have said, stay away from dark cloth colors unless the table is only a room decoration accessory and nobody will be playing on it. I had black felt once and it was the worst decision. It took no time to show track marks, lint and debris.

Green and tournament blue are the best player options.

I have green Simonis 860HR cloth and use green Master chalk and don’t have any issues. It cleans off really well using an X1.

Only thing though, the cloth installer gave me the chalk for free, so whether it’s spruce green or basic green isn’t clear. Will have to research next chalk purchase.

As I am assembling my antique brunswick madison I am getting to the choice of felt. I have found the Championship Mercury Ultra and that looks like a good choice. But what color? I know green is traditional but what preference do y'all have? I will have to live with it for a long while.
I like Tournament Blue but on an antique like yours i'd stick with good ol classic green.

Simonis 860 Camel Use tan/gold chalk

I have Championship Invitational cloth and I went with no. 31 Championship Green. I like blue cloth also, but I wanted something more traditional.
