i recently bought a gold crown2
after the original instalation the table cloth wasnt pulled tight enough and the mechanic had to come back to fix that and a few minor problems with the ball returns
i decided to replace the rails at the same time since this way i would a have "new " table
well a pro came to my house to play and pointed a few things out
1) it seems the cloth on the rails especially on the underside if you rub them the cloth will bunch up
he beleives the cloth should be pulled tighter
2) i he also pointed out which i never noticed there is a small section where the slates meet where there is a small ridge which if the cue ball rolls very slow at a certain angle to it the cue ball rolls off
i guess the material thats used to seal the seam wasnt brought all the way down to be flush with the slate top
are both problems fixable???
i looked in the directory sticky and there is noone listed in fl....
i live in vero beach fl.
if you are near me or know someone who is
post contact info or pm me
thanks

Both problems are fixable by someone who knows what they are doing. Have you called the original installer to address the problems and give them a chance to make it right?

IF...the original installer KNEW what he was doing in the first place, these problems from lack of knowing what he's doing...would never have been a problem in the first place;)

Not arguing with you. I just know that the guy has already been paid and should have a shot at making it right. I've seen it from both sides. I've had a VFW hall call someone else because they were unhappy about my work. I never heard a word about them being unhappy, and still to this day don't know what they were unhappy about. Obviously if there was an issue, I would have made every attempt to make it right. I don't know of any issues with the table though. I've lost a regular customer and possibly a hit to my reputation if the customer tells anyone he is unhappy with my work. I would have liked a chance to make it right.

Also have seen guys who have more than one crew. If one guy does a half ass job, that doesn't mean the whole company isn't capable of making it right or even doing it right the first time.

If I've paid someone to perform a service, and I'm not happy with the quality of the service, I'm going to address that with that person before I try to find someone else. At the very least, give them the option to make it right, or give you your money back. I wouldn't look for someone else until I'm convinced the first guy isn't capable of doing it right....especially if I've already paid him.

I would say it depends on how much you paid the first guy. If you paid for first class service I would expect him to come back again and fix it. If you paid for low end service, you got what you paid for, and he may not know how to fix it, or may want more money (or maybe not who knows?).

Anyway, to me, how much you paid is a big factor in how much you can expect from him....

I would have to dissagree with you on this, how much you pay someone to work on a pool table is not equal to how much that person knows about what they're doing, meaning...higher pay does not = better work;)

Also, you have to keep in mind that in the eyes of the general public, a lot of people expect that if you're in the phone book, you know what you're doing. Yeah, to a certain extent, you get what you pay for, but if you're in the book, you should be able to do it right, right?

As a customer, your understanding is that a pool table set up properly will have the cloth tight and the slates level and flush. If as a customer, you are under the understanding that your table is going to be set up properly, it doesn't matter if you paid $1 or $1000, you haven't gotten what you paid for and are entitled to that service completed to your expectations. From my side of it, if a guy has paid me to install his table, and say a member of my crew installed the table not to my (or mu customer's) satisfaction, I would want to know about it, since I've already paid him to do the work, and I want the opportunity to salvage my reputation for quality of service.

The first guy deserves a call. Give him a chance to make it right. If he's not capable of completing the work to your satisfaction, then he is not capable of completing the job you paid him to do, and you have every right to ask for compensation back, since you have already paid for those services and are now going to have to pay someone ELSE to do it right.

you also need to find out what profile cushions he put on the table. if the cloth is loose then he may not have known what the correct cushion profiles is for that table.

post some pictures of the pockets and the rails on this site and the guys here can tell you if it is even worth dealing with this person again.

I agree 100% with you here! If you agree to do work for someone for a certain price. No matter what the price is. You do your absolute best. The price doesnt make the mechanic any better or any worse in my opinion! Its the person doing the work!!!! I know when I walk away from a job, I know I have done my best on it!!
