Since many people don't understand the vocabulary in this section I thought everyone could create and add to a thread that describes our mech terms. Ie. Mech- a person who installs tables

I would revise that.

Installer - A person who installs tables.

Mechanic - A person who installs tables, and is capable of repairing problems with tables, including issues caused by less qualified installers, age, and wear and tear.

Technician - A person who can perform all of the duties of an installer and mechanic, as well as highly specialized tasks, including precisely adjusting the dimensions and playing characteristics of a table.

That's just off the top of my head though.

Josh , don't confuse him with the facts .
He was hopin' we'd write a glossary so he'd know what all these big words mean . Like :
Improved
Gluing
and
Method

Well then, why dont you start with the basics, so everyone here knows the difference between a blind, a skirt, a cap and a boot.

below is a fairly common table cross-section (with antique rail option shown J,K,L)
lets see if everyone comes up with the same name for the same parts

not really an issue of pass or fail - just wondering if everyone uses the same name for the same parts...

for example;
I would call C - the subrail
E - the rail liner (although the illustration is not all that accurate)
I- the rail plate

I'll give a customers vocabulary and the mechs can see if it sounds familiar

Rail recalibration=Mechanic term. Customer term = Rail modification
