Very nice shop!!

What is the tool in the last picture? Yellow, looks like a garbage disposal on its side?

Thanks

dowel machine

You put square wood (1-1.25 square in=1"round)in one side and it comes out round on the other side round, the diameter depends on what cutting head and outfeed rollers you put on it I have 1",1.25",1.38",1.5." Square shaft wood 30"long takes about 10-15 seconds to make round.

SK Custom Cues,
"Have you been speaking with blud lately? If so, I would like to have his contact info please."

I got his info and saw some of his work on his web site:

http://bludworth.com/cuemaking_machines.htm

Hope this helps, he seems like a straight forward kind of guy but I don't really know him, just talked with him on the phone.

Since this is a pool forum and has nothing to do with guns, I'll keep it brief. For you all to have a better idea of who I am, here are a few of the guns stocks I've made. Right now I'm in the American Custom Gunmaker's Guild and hope to build cues in addition to this work in the future. I've always enjoyed looking at some of the fine work you guys do.

God willing, I will be a part of the cue builder's guild in the next 7 or 8 years if all goes as planned. So far, it's just in the dream stage but I know what it takes to do first rate work. Plain and simple, IT TAKES A LOT OF HARD WORK.......!

I really like to learn and this forum has given me a great deal of new information to pick and choose from.
Thank you all,

So anyway, this is what I do for now....

PM me with any comments/suggestions as I'd love to hear them but don't want to hijack the thread.

Awesome machine, awesome gunsmithing, and awesome Scotch. I can't afford the 150.00 bottle very often, but the 12 is at Costco for 40.00. If you can ever swing of bottle of Highland Park 30, it is heavenly.

On these tapering machines... what is the size of the lead screw and feed rate, what rpms are you turning the wood and the lead screw at?

Thanks,
Zim

Any chance of seeing a video of these things in action? I've searched youtube but come up blank :frown:

Cheers,

Zim, I have one of Bluds saw machines. I'm not sure of the lead screw pitch, but the rpms and feed rate are controlled in the software.
