Tougher

I like Tad cues so I am always looking for them. This one is a little tougher to get ahold of than the standard model.

There should be one out there....I sent this model to Tad to get another shaft made and to have it refinished. He completed it, and sent it back to me and I never got it.

Tad and J&J made it right by senting me a "new" cue. But it was the new style.

You'll also hear this style called the Martin Tad, as it resembles a Harvey Martin cue.

Good luck in your search.

Ken

Good luck, its a hard cue to find. I traded mine to Tom Wirth about 15 years ago and always regretted it. ME TOO , Bob C.

I own one exactly like this. I must apologize in advance because it's not for sale.

I bought it from Tad through Best Billiards around 10 years ago. I forgot the name of the salesman, but he believed it was the 13th one made. He told me he owned #12. I had to wait a few weeks for it, because Tad was in the final stages of finishing it. I showed up one night after work and Tad was there with his wife and the cue. I felt embarassed I made them come out at night to give it to me.

It's a nice, simple cue that hits somewhat differently from Tad's steel-jointed cues probably because of the type of joint. The balance is similar though, around 19".

I haven't shot with any of Tad's current models, but this one has a stickier linen wrap than the '86/'87 basic steel-jointed Tad I own. Possibly more sealer?

Nice cue, and since I started shooting again last spring I've never seen another one like mine until I saw the pictures you posted today.

If you need any more specs or info on this model feel free to PM me.

Good luck!:)

I bought one of these off of AZ last year from Flying Snail. Sold it in Reno at an event....one more on the "Wish I had that back list"

Was the salesman at Best Billiards Asian or White? I used to work there and had one of the first cues like that to come through Best Billiards' doors in 1996.

I think he was either Latino or Filipino. An Az'r PM'd me about my post and said it may have been Del. I think it was. Really nice guy. When I bought my cue at Best Billiards Ariel Carmeli was doing repairs there. Tad had good things to say about him.

Great username BTW, heheh. You need an avatar to match!

Oh that's right, Del Ramos. We all had one at the same time, he is a great guy and a great player (pool and music) too.

Don't know if I would venture posting a picture of my screen name, though I am sure I could find several inappropriate ones that would fit the bill. Ha ha.

Del was really cool. He pulled some of the really expensive Tads out of that big metal cabinet you guys had and let me shoot with them. They were one-of-a-kind Tads I'd never seen before or since. He was eager to shoot the breeze and never pressured me. I bought that cue because I was in a Tad buying mood and appreciated his service.

Does Tad still make these cues?

Yes he does, a friend just bought one from J & J but they only get like 2 a year if I am not mistaken. He is a busy man and those cues are the lowest model he makes but one of the best hitting in my opinion.

Will ask Friend ...

Hey, My Brother from Down Under,
I will ask my friend if his dad still has it. I remember seeing him play with it a while back at Hawaiian Brian's Billiards......I'll ask the weight and condition, shafts condition, etc.
Here's my matching caps....Thanks for your positive Trader Notification about me.......Alton

Leonkush, that's right. I forgot that J&J Cues distribute Tads so you could shoot them an email to see when they expect one in.

Here's what they have available right now.

Until recently they had a model #81-1 for sale. It's beautiful and one I'd like to get, but it was too rich for my blood.
