TAMPA BAY players- ???

if your in the Tampa area... HOLLA!!!!

Russ Chewning PM'ed me he's in the area... I can get the owner of the hall I mentioned to open up on a saturday morning/afternoon and we could have a tourney of any size or shape you guys can brainstorm... looks like everyone is busy for the next week or two but if I can get a good response here we could aim to set up a tournament in January maybe even get him to add $$$.

I play @ Stroker's in Palm Harbor. On Monday's, they have an 8-ball tournament, and the Wednesday 9-ball as mentioned.

This past Wednesday, I was playing fairly well. Beat one of the top 3 players in there, 3-1. :D Then, on my next set, I lost the first match (missed the 8-ball, gave him the game :angry: ), won the 2nd match, then he breaks (third match), shoots a couple shots, then gets a lucky hit on the 9-ball and drops it by accident. THEN, I break, dropped a few balls, played a safe, and he just smacked the cue ball, hoping to get a hit, and ends up dropping the 9-ball again by accident. :ignore:

I'm about tired of 9-ball and slop shots. :cool:

But, I'll probably still play in the tournament, since I enjoy playing, and I usually head up there looking for someone to bang the balls around the table with.

Edit: Forgot to mention, I live in Clearwater too. :) I played @ Park Place Billiards just this past Monday, when Stroker's unexpectedly closed (turns out they were having their Xmas party.) It's not bad, I hadn't been there in a while, but the service sucked, which I remember. The tables were clean.

The one thing I don't like about Stroker's in Palm Harbor is that the tables REALLY need to be re-covered. Some of them have little rips and tears in them that you have to shoot around, and the cloth runs really fast IMO. But it's a friendly place. If anyone is out that way, just look for the guy with the REALLY long hair, or ask anyone who works there for Hans (they all know me.) I'm usually down for a game if I'm not playing someone already. You can usually find me on table # 11, by the front door, or table # 7, in the middle, or the table in the far corner by the stage. ;)

And just an FYI, on Friday nights, it's free pool from 7pm - 9pm, and they have a poker tournament @ 8pm and another @ 10pm that's free to enter. Winner gets something like a $40 bar tab. I usually play one of my buddies while his wife plays poker. When she's done, they start playing, so I find a different person to play.

Also, Sunday's it's $1/hour for pool there.

Sure. I just have to be careful, because *technically*, I'm not supposed to drive (long story, and if I get pulled over, I go to jail. No, it's not for DUI or anything like that, it's total BS, which anyone who knows me knows the story.)

I've been wanting to learn 10-ball for a while now. No one @ Stroker's PH seems to play it. I'm terrible @ one pocket, but my buddy who plays there loves to play it (and routinely beats me silly.) :o
 
not much to learning 10ball, it's 9ball with an extra ball.

I dont play 1p, aside from one one to play with.. I don't know the nuaices of the game well enough. Perhaps someday.

ANy other TampaBay people out there?
 
I thought there were some extra rules, but I just looked it up, guess not. I thought it was call-pocket for some reason. I'm just so tired of slop shots. :(

I live in Lakeland, and would probably come over and play. I like all the rooms over there, especially the one's on US 19! I am only 45 mins from most of the rooms in the area.

If that's you in the photo, you look familiar. I live on US 19 in Clearwater (traffic is a b!tch right now), and that's another reason I like Storker's in PH, it's pretty close and convenient for me. :embarrassed2:
 
When in town I play at CM's because of the billiard table. If thats in use, I have been known to play some straight with Pat Howey. Didn't like that much. Hes beautiful to watch though. Takes apart a rack as nice as you'ld like.

Yes that's me, and I like Strokers PH too. It is a great room, great service great equipment, and Jose is as good an owner asyou will find!

I was @ Stroker's PH last night, from around 7:30pm to a little after 9pm. Totally dead. :( I ended up playing Taz (one of the guys who's works there, he's like 17 but a heck of a player) for an hour or so.

We should figure out a regular night to get together or something.

Hans, we have played before on monday night at strokers for the 8ball tournament.


I was up at strokers today and I was playing 1pocket with Jose, he had to go but we ended 2-2 and I don't play that much at all but it's fun. I will probably be up at strokers tomorrow as well if anyone is around and wants to hit some balls.

I might take a shot now and then...

If there was a monthly 1-day tournament for AZ players in Tampa I might make it now and then...on a Sat or Sun... I haven't been playing but for a few racks here and there at home but it seems like a good way to meet AZers...and hey maybe pick up an occasional trophy...

Sometimes it takes an hour to get there from Orlando...sometimes two...so many rooms over there are nowhere near I-4...
