Tonight at 9 PM Eastern we will have a podcast with Shane van Boening and Mike Dechaine with special guest host Jennifer Barretta. Jennifer will be asking the guys questions from this thread and from the chat.

TAR 31 is sponsored by CSI and Bad Boys Billiards Productions. The match begins tomorrow at 8 PM Eastern.

If you have any questions for Mike, Shane or Jennifer please post them up.

As with the last 2 podcasts with players, I'm sure people are interested in what Mike has to say about his aiming and mechanics.

Ask Shane and Mike how many they would give a top female player on the wire in a race to 21 in 9 ball on TAR. Johnnyt

Now that TAR has made an excellent choice for a guest host, might I suggest the next step for helping keep score........

I think the most obvious question to ask them is what do they think about the table they are playing on? More specifically, do they think playing on 4.5 inch pockets in a long race format is too easy? I think most of us understand that in a short race, tightening up the equipment makes sense to ensure each player gets an opportunity to perform, but in a long race why not let the horses run a bit?

Also, what do they think of the 10 footers? Would they like to see professional tournaments played on them regurlarly?

I wouldn't be opposed to some equipment nerd questions. I know we heard a lot about Shane's equipment on the last podcast with Darren, but I'd like to hear about what Mike is using. I know he's a Predator guy, but I'd like to know about what tip diameter he prefers and what tip he is using and the hardness etc or anything else really. Also, I'd like you to ask them about their experiences at the Derby this year and what went well and what didn't and why.

Why did Shane switch over to a glove this past year? In his opinion, does using a glove take away the feel of the shot?

If you had to play a seven ahead set for all of your cash with the best player on the planet other than yourself, what game do you want to play?

I'd like them both to talk about how they analyze a table runout. Have them break a few racks and walk us through their thinking about how to runout this layout. It would be okay if they have to move a few balls (clusters, makeble 1-ball, etc) in the interest of time.

What do they look at first? Work from the 10-ball backwards, or 1-ball forward? I'm fairly new to the game and I keep hearing about "seeing the patters" but I don't really know what it means.

They don't have to play the rack out (we'll see that in match), but I'd love to hear about their thought process.

I'd like to know what their ideal diet and sleep regiment is for a match like this if any. What to stay away from to prevent fatigue and hold their focus.
Pre game preparation I guess you would call it
Thanks

What size would be appropriate to let the horses run?

Mike participate on AZ quite a bit. Shane does not. I would like to hear their thoughts on AZ, and why they both choose to/not to participate.

I would like to know how much traveling over seas each plans to do.

They both seem to be the only ones trying their hands at international play from the states. Can you fill us in on some of the experiences, level of competition, how welcome they felt, some of the challenges of being in an unfamiliar country, etc.

I would also like to hear who each ranks the top 5 guys behind them in the world.

I would like to hear from Mike why he fumbled so hard in the Mosconi. Was it preasure, Was he ill, etc? He played so well the year before, just wondering what happened.

What do they think the other's strong points are?

Do they consider their opponent when preparing for a long set such as this? If so, where did the prepare more than "normal" for playing the other?

What does the U.S. need to do to win the next Mosconi?

What is the most cash they have played for with their OWN money. Do they prefer a backer or not?

Who do they think is the hardest player to player, when they both gamble their own money

Would Mike or Shane like to appear on Dancing with the Stars ?

Not a question, but a thank you to Jennifer.

Don't know if you remember this, but 2 or 3 years ago at the BCAPL Vegas National tournament, we tracked you down and asked you to say hello to one of our team members -- you are his favorite player. We were playing the amateur team competition and we wanted to surprise him. Well, being the classy lady that you are, you obliged and soon came to our table during one of our matches.

It did surprise him -- in fact, I think it shocked him. All he could say is, "I think I have to pee" and quickly disappeared. Later he told us how much it meant to him.

Anyway, thanks!

Does Mike D do any special neck exercises to help support that Monster head when he leans over the pool table. Part two can he buy hats off the rack or does he need to custom order.
