TAR 34 SVB/Efren 8 Ball: Open After Break or Make It Take It?

Efrens my favorite of all time, and I can't make myself purchase this match.

I hate the extended races when the oldest guy plays the best young player on earth, I'm afraid efren is going to be severely embarrassed.

Everything favors SVB by leaps and bounds with the 2 games you need big breaks at.

Banks, one pocket, and 9 ball(big break not needed) would be a lot more fair of an all around for the ole magician.

I certainly could be wrong, but I don't see endurance being an issue for Efren. The guy has more will power in of of his discarded eyelashes than any 1000 normal human being's entire bodies combined.

Would we all like to see this match when Efren was in his prime against SVB right now? Of course we would but I don't see him getting embarrassed even today. The man is a warrior, he may just surprise us all. Having said all that, yes he is certainly a fairly big underdog here but I definitely wouldn't be surprised if he wins 2 out of 3 disciplines.

This isn't a bad match by any means. Also everyone appreciates you taking your time and money to put this thing together. For myself and I believe for some others I like to see who plays the table the best not who breaks the best. I like the strategy of pool more so than watching people put racks together. There are hundreds of guys than can put 5 packs + together but dont have a clue what to do in certain spots. The reason I suggested the 8 ball match should be .. take what you make, last pocket 8 ball is because it would bring alot more strategy into the game. This very well could be the last time we see Efren in a big match, wouldn't it be nice to learn from his genius if we could. The talk about people wanting to see packages run in 10 ball.. whats the difference between a 4 pack and a 6 pack? the guy made a ball on the break 2 extra games usually. As I said for myself I would like to see if Shane plays the table better than Efren at this point in their careers. I still don't think he does. I think it would be more interesting if bustamante could break for Efren in the 10 ball and 8 ball. Thats just me though. When efren was in his prime he had a standing offer that any american could get the 7 ball if Bustamante could break for him... Either way this is going to be a great show. Plus everyone better take a good luck at Efren during this match as I said before this may be the last time we see the greatest pool player ever in a big match.

Ya gotta do sets tho justin, like tennis. I would hate to watch a US Open finals tennis match where only one guy served, and served it out. And with mini sets, races to three with opponent racking, and tiebreakers, it involves the total pool game. One guy racking, the other preparing for the break, ball gathering etc. its a natural. I personally would enjoy watching efren racking and him smiling while doing it, its real, you know he'll create a Fun laughing moment while doing it, we need to see that.

I'm looking forward to this match. Even made plans with the lady that I can't miss it. (I didn't do that for the last few matches, and did miss most of them).

I think Efren is a big underdog. There is no beating Father time. That said, I'll be watching and rooting for efren, and hoping he will win. But I won't be betting on him without a substantial handicap.

JCIN, thanks for putting this together. I hope you get 1 fewer viewer than what it would take to blow up your servers.

Everyone has a different idea of what to do. Which is a good thing because it means they are paying attention.

I have always said the tennis method of scoring is interesting. Maybe at some point we will try it. I can see plusses and minuses to the format.
