TAR 35 Podcast with Shane Van Boening Tomorrow 9 PM Eastern. Questions?

I know others who feel the same as you. It simply bores them and they do not see the things in the game that people who love it do. Same for any particular game. Different strokes and all that.
One Snatch is a strange game. I always foundf it boring to watch and could never understand why people loved it so much until I played 1 game. My first turn at the table I stopped dead in my tracks and looked at the layout and said to myself "AAHHH Thats what makes this good" I still don't play much.

Back on topic. Does he think that he will end up making more money than ever this year with most of the other players tied up with Bonus Ball?

Can you ask Dennis 3 things:

1) How does he prepare himself for a money match like this

2) What(if any) type of drills did he use to do before he became a world beater

3) What is his theory on breaking a 10 ball rack considering when he sets up to break the palm of his bridge hand is not resting on the table (like shane's)

Thanks Justin

Please don't talk about bb.

Q's

1. Has Mark recently(if ever) talked to the other big tournament directors about combining all the big tournys under one umbrella and call it a pro tour? Might need a few modifications but seems doable if the guys are willing to work together. Your thoughts please.

2. Has TAR ever tried to market to any of the hundreds of tv networks out there?

3. (For Justin/Mark) Do you know the last time anyone in pool contacted a tv network? Any details on it? Any plans in the works to do so?

Colonel Sanders was rejected over 1,000 times before he found someone to back KFC. Does Mark or anyone have an interest in making the attempt? Thoughts?

4. I hate bb-hope you don't talk about it. But do you think it lit a fire under anyone to try and make something happen in it's current format?

IF the timing works out that a TAR match is going on when that kid Alex and the junior nationals play, is it possible to have the two finalists play as an under card on TAR? (Costs should be minimal as they have to fly in/book hotel for nationals themselves.)

justin, I missed the live podcast. are you planning to post the recorded version on YouTube?

Yes. I will try to get the podcast up on YouTube today but it may not make it until after the match. I'm having an issue with the recorded file. I should be able to work it out but I do not know if I will have the time to do it today.

Great interview as always, I tried to get on to the chat to let you know that Alex was there listening, but would not let me log on. I would try to type, it would pop up a sign in page, I would, and nothing comes up in chat. Tried IE and Firefox on two computers.

Well, either way, Alex was listening for most of it, although he was very tired and I don't think he really appreciated how nice it was that you guys mentioned him in the broadcast. He tends to be a bit shy when telling others about his accomplishments.

To the poster that asked about having a TAR match with the Jr Nationalists players, Justin is actually going to be doing streaming for the Jr National tournament, so it will be a mini-TAR match anyway

What I wanted to see is to have some of the Jr players do some commentary for the streaming (although I have not heard from Justin if he things that will work out OK). I think it would be an interesting thing to do.

I will answer on Dennis' behalf (he's en route to Vegas now). I have gotten to know him very well over the last few years, spending a lot of time with him. He was never into drills, starting out playing Rotation for very small money (maybe a dollar a game) as a teenager. As he got older (and better) he looked for bigger games with better players, finally ending up in Manila, and competing against the top filipino players.

The way he prepares for a match like this is to shoot hundreds of racks of Ten Ball every day on a similar table. He can easily practice for ten or twelve hours a day without getting tired or taking a break, other than to eat something.

Dennis will literally break the balls for two to three hours at a time, working on all aspects of his break; controlling the cue ball, getting good action on all the balls, and making one or two balls. He wants first to control the cue ball, second to make a ball and third to see the one ball. Then he's home free. I will add this. He loves his new "Impact" break cue from Tiger and he's absolutely crushing the rack. Shane may not have the big advantage on the break that everyone thinks he does.

Anyway, I hope this is helpful in answering your questions.
