My very first truly custom for me cue arrived yesterday. It was a very cool experience thanks to Mike Stacey. I have known Mike for years. When I lived in Indiana I would take all my repair and wrap work to him in Noblesville because I knew would do it right and he always went out of his way to help me out. Mike has been building cues for years and knows what he is doing.

I was in Valley Forge and started talking to Mike about ordering a 60" cue. We talked for awhile and came up with an order. I don't even remember what we talked about for delivery I just knew that it would be ready when it was ready. Then last week Mike sent me an email saying it was ready. I was a happy guy.

I had the cue shipped to the BCAPL office and it just so happened that I was going to Mark and Sunny Griffin's house for dinner last night. I talked to Mark yesterday afternoon and he said the cue had arrived and he would bring the cue with him and save me the trip. So I got to open my first custom cue with some of my best friends. Pretty damn cool.

When I opened the package the cue was not what I expected. It was way beyond that. I ordered a simple ebony cue with a maple wrap, 60 inches long with a little shorter ferrule than normal and a longer taper than normal. It is all that and more.

The maple in the handle is crazy with lots of curl and great birdseye figure throughout. I noticed something as I unwrapped the cue and took a closer look. Mike had inlayed an ivory signature plate with "The Action Report" and M. Stacey on it. I was blown away. I have never seen a plate in this location on a cue and I love it.

After a great dinner (thanks Sunny :D) it wasn't long before Mark and I were playing pool. The cue hits great and I am very happy that unlike most 60" cues I have tried it still balances well. I couldn't be happier.

Mike is a great guy who make a damn good cue. You get a lot of value for your money and he is a pleasure to work with. I want to thank Mike for making my first custom cue a great experience. If you are looking for a great hitting cue in a reasonable amount of time for a reasonable amount of money give Mike Stacey a look.

Here are some pics of the new cue as well as a 58" Stacey I picked up "off the rack" from Michael at Omega Billiards at this years BCAPL Nationals.

Cool looking cues Justin and nice write up. What is the weight on the 58 inch cue, inquiring minds want to know:-)

Thanks for sharing.

looks like a solid playuh, with some extra reach.

Good on ya!

I'll bet the balance "feels" right cuz it's close to where it would be on your 58"er if you measured from the tip.

This cue is a little different from any other 60 inch cues I have had in that the butt is 29 3/4" and the shafts are 30 1/4" . Not sure what that means if anything balance wise but it does work for me.

Most cues that I have liked in the past have been 59" cues. The 60's I have had never felt right. I had a PH South West with a birdseye handle that I thought would be the "one"....it hit just like dog poop. So far I am really digging this one.

<----too lazy to ever actually measure balance point and now knows there will never be just "one"

No clue. Guessing 18.8 to 19.1 ish . The shafts on that one had Mike's stock taper and I had Blackburn pull the taper back on one and take it down to about 12.8 ish. Pretty sweet playing cue.

This is a great looking cue. I really like the wood combination and the nameplate looks fantastic!

Congratulations,
Chris
