TAR day 3

Rack 22:

Busty breaks, makes 3 balls but he has no shot on the 1. Looks the table over for a place to push, pushes the 7 into the pocket leaving only 6 balls on the table. Shane plays safe. Busty tries a soft rail first safe but leaves the 1 in front of the side pocket. Shane jumps up on a routine 5 ball and misses it. Busty finishes off the 5, 6, and 10. Huge miss by Shane. He can't afford any more mistakes.

Busty 15-7

I sent some green rep your way for the updates. Thanks!

Busty 15-7

That 5 ball was a disaster. He was trying to punch the cue ball off the rail cause he was a touch too straight on the 5. I think the weakest part of Shane's otherwise excellent game is he doesn't leave enough angle on the balls, and is routinely pounding them to move the cue ball. This showed up BIG TIME on the 10' match with Earl. If he works on his angles more, he would be even better than he is now.

JMHO from a banger...

Rack 23:

Busty breaks dry. Shane can't make the 1 but he can see it so he hides him behind the 2 & 4. If they were using jump cues I'm sure Busty would just jump over them but instead he kicks 1 rail and hits it. A few more safes ensue with Shane getting the first shot on the 1. Table looks pretty tough but it only took 1 shot for Shane to get out of line. He pockets a razor thin shot into the side on the 2 but can't do much with the 3 so back to the safety game. Shane wins that little battle and plays a couple of great shots to get out.

Busty 15-8 with Shane breaking.

Rack 24:

Shane doesn't hit the break perfect but makes the 1 and gets a shot on the 2. He has a hard time pulling the trigger on the 2. He steps up and tries again - making the 2. Still a lot of work to do. He hooks himself behind the 7. He kicks at the 4, leaving it straight in for Busty who proceeds to run out (4 ball thought about staying up).

Busty 16-8

Shane's digging himself an awful deep hole.

Rack 25:

Busty breaks um hard and has a really tough shot on the 1...he trickles it in....WOW! I think he can see the finish line. I don't think he would have tried the shot on the 1 yesterday or the day before. Doesn't matter though because he made it. He finishes them off in style shooting the 10 with his left hand.

Busty 17-8

Francisco 17-8. Shane looking dejected. Trading safes at the moment. The last two nights both players were missing a lot. Tonight Francisco does not seem to be missing much, while Shane still has missed some. Also he left Francisco with a shot after some of his safeties.

Update: 17-9 Francisco. Shane just made a nice 5-10 combo. The 5 and 10 were an inch apart, on the short rail, three diamonds from the corner. It was a 70-80 degree cue and he made it.

Rack 26:

Busty hits um hard again and gets the cue ball kissed right into the side pocket. He's really not breaking that great. His cue ball is moving all over on his break. Shane lines up a tough 1-10 combo into the side and misses it??? Busty tries to roll the 1 in similar to how he did it last rack but this time he misses it. Shane plays a bad safe leaving nothing but distance. Busty play a good safe in return. Back and forth they go. The 5 & 10 are tied on on the end rail. Someone will have to do something with that.

Shane gets the 1st legit shot on the 1. Shane got real tough on the 4. With the cue ball on the rail and the 4 at the other end of the table - he fired in the 4 trying to come around 3 rails to either break up the 5/10 or play for the combo. Well, he fell a little funny but went for the combo anyway. The 5/10 was on the far side of the end rail. HE FIRES IN THE COMBO!!!

Busty 17-9

Rack 27:

Shane breaks and ends up without a shot again - he pushes and Busty passes it back.

Back and forth they go...Shane is finally left in a jam. He has to kick 2 rails at the 1. He comes into the back side of the 1 and the cue ball follows down into the corner pocket. With the table wide open Busty starts to run out. He falls a bit short on the 4 ball but he runs the cue ball up and down and lands perfect for the 5 in the side and finishes off the rest of the rack. This Francisco guy can play a little bit :)

Busty 18-9

Rack 28:

Busty breaks and lands perfect on the 1. The table is wide open. He gets quite straight on the 4 ball which causes him to get funny on the 5. He fires the 5 in but is rewarded with falling awkward on the 6. He misses the 6 leaving Shane long. Shane misses it and scratches.

What's this? A fat lady just entered the TAR Studio through the kitchen door.

Francisco runs out.

19-9

Rack 29:

Busty break hard and watches the cue ball get kicked into the pocket again. Shane need to do something here. Shane pays no attention to the Magic Rack as it spins around like a top while he shoots off a few balls. He runs out in very quick fashion.

19-10

Rack 30:

Shane comes with a good break and has a shot on the 1 ball. The 1 is near the corner pocket and the 2 is at the opposite end of the table. He comes up about a ball short of perfect on the 2 and misses it while thinking about the carom into the 3 ball - leaves the 2 in the jaws. Busty has 1 tough shot on the 4 ball that he makes but he leaves himself long and straight on the 5. He jumps up a bit on the 5 and misses. Shane gets a little lazy on the five and leaves himself a little bit off on the 7. So then he misses the 7 - OUCH!

Rack's not over yet - the seven finds its way all the way to the middle of the far end rail, what's Busty to do? He tried to spin it in and leaves it in the jaws. Not sure about that shot selection???

Shane finishes off the rack this time.

19-11

Rack 31:

Dry break by SVB. Busty pushes leaving Shane long. Shane misses the 1 leaving it in the jaws. Faced with a fairly routine runout (as routine as can be on this table) Francisco gets out. Getting through the 7, 8, 9 was tough but he made it look easy.

20-11

Rack 32:

Another break and another cue ball being kissed around the table. Busty ends up with a thin cut on the 1. I think he can make it but he's unsure of how to get on the 2. He opts to play safe. Shane fires away at a 1 rail kick and ends up okay. Shane has the 1st shot on the 1 but it's not an easy one since he has to roll whitey. He overruns the 2 a bit but he spins it in and gets back in line...or so I thought. The cue ball comes around 2 rails and finds its way into the side pocket. Out of frustration Shane bounces the ball off the rail and it flies off the table.

Busty runs out.

21-11

Rack 33:

Dry break. Shane comes to the table and pushes. Francisco plays a great rail first kick-safe, having the cue ball come around 3 rails. Shane kicks at the 1 but doesn't get a rail giving up BIH.

Francisco leaves himself funny on the 3 but cuts it in. Shouldn't have anymore problems with this one. Spoke too soon...he got straight on the 6 and had to force follow back down table landing on the opposite side of the 7 but it all worked out. He pocketed them all.

22-11

Busty is looking good on this match. He seems like playing very well. But of course it is too early to say he'll win it all

Rack 34:

Francisco continues to hit um hard and hope on the break. This time he comes up dry but kisses into a safe position. Shane all but waving the white flag comes up and kicks at the one, leaving it straight in for Francisco.

Francisco is really playing phenomenal pool. He's really not breaking the balls that well but he's pocketing everything and really controlling the cue ball. He's even figuring out how much of the pockets he really has to work with. On several shots he has rattled a few ball in tonight at pocket speed. I think this is more a product of him understanding what the pockets will give him than it is him missing the center of the pocket.

Oh, by the way he ran out.

23-11

Rack 35:

Breaks dry leaving Shane a thin cut on the 1 that he goes for and overcuts. Looking over the table Francisco sees the 5/10 are tied up. I'm not certain what he's going to do with them. He tries to break them up off of the 3 and in the process leaves the 3 in the hole. Shane with nothing to lose now fires in the 3, breaks up the cluster, fires in the 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, & 10.

23-12

One of those SVB 7 packs would be nice about now.

Rack 36:

SVB makes a couple balls but is left with a tough one on the 1. He tries to slice the 1 in the side to get down for the 2. He makes a great shot on the 1 and locks up Busty on the 2. Of course, Busty hits and forces Shane to play safe again. Busty fails to get a rail. Shane has a tricky table to work through. It resembles a rack of 14.1. Lots of balls near the rack area. He plucks them off 1 at a time. The 10 ball is in the rack area so he can't leave it for a break ball. He goes ahead and fires it in ;)
