Unfortunately, I can't watch TAR vids at work. But I've seen a keno board like that at a pro's house.

How is keno played?

I am in the process of completely overhauling our video editing work flow and in doing so I was going through cleaning up, erasing and throwing away all kinds of random tapes, files and video clips. During this process I found something pretty cool.

On a tape was about 27 minutes of quality footage with good audio of Bucktooth at the Derby with his board and the Keno game that he stirred up. This took place right after the infamous Fatboy coin flip challenge. I remember handing Disco a camera and saying "Go tape that sh!t" :D I forgot all about it until I found the tape the other day.

Disco taped about 30 minutes and if you ever wondered what in the hell Keno looked like, here it is in all it's glory. Bucktooth is a hilarious guy who can stir it up. I was sweating it taking still's and it was fun. The sad thing is soon after this tape ends the police confiscated the board and broke the game. But we got some great footage of just one of the wild things that can and does happen at the greatest tournament on earth. The Derby City Classic.

Good job Disco.

The video is here: www.theactionreport.com just click play to watch.

Enjoy.

I had seen this back in the 80's at a tournament somewhere. Great video JC. Should answer an awful lot of questions for people. You gotta have a little gamble in ya to play this game.
As for the skiball expert robbing someone, I wouldn't think so. It's a little different game. JMO

I don't care what people say about Bucktooth, the guy is a character and although he might be a locksmith, I guarantee you that he's bet more than 99+% of all pool players.

I've never played it but from watching the video, you roll a ball down the table and try to land it in a number slot on the board. You stand at the same end of the table as the board when you roll. There is a spot marked double, or some odd symbol that means double, that if you land on it, everyone that is gambling that round has to pay you double. Nice! You can have several people playing. Hope this helps you understand. Bye.

cont....

Sorry...the most important part is, whoever lands in the highest numbered slot wins.

That looks like fun, but his keno board looks "low" to me. That's the first time I saw it in action. I don't recall balls hitting the rail so flush behind the board when I used to play. I see tooth rolls it firm-- it looks like the ball squats off the rail.

I recall the late Weenie Beenie telling me stories about his keno board and how he would take it to tournaments and bet it up. I never got a chance to see one in action. Thanks for the video.

Pretty interesting to say the least. I do have a question though...when people accuse the Tooth of having a "fixed" board, what could he possibly do to have it work in his favor?

I have heard, don't know if it's true, that when pressed he will only gamble on the board he built...don't know if that's true but if it is, *I* can do the math....:)

Actually we do have it. Audio sucks but you can get the general idea : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lSf3V8CR_SU

Cool thanks, I had heard lots about it. A shame the audio is a mess, audio was good when you first had it, or have I heard the story only as word of mouth? I thought some said they saw it & heard it on TAR.

Either way, gr8 posts and thanks again.

You can build in paths on the board to keep balls away from a certain hole. You can also build in dips around certain holes so that if you come close you're sure to land it. There's another variation of the game where you draw numbered pills from a container and then try to sink the balls in the holes that you drew. It's too easily manipulated for me to play for anything other than singles.

Loser

:D I do believe the TOOTH booked a loser during the amount of time this video was shot anyway. What did he win like one time? That would be funny if the board was fixed and he got stuck 2000 or so real quick and then the cops broke the game up and his plan didn't work:D

I don't think his plan was to win using the board. Sure, he threw his ball harder to park it on a back row number, but there's too much luck. Even with his knowledge of how the board works, a guy like Bucktooth can't make that his main goal.

Look at the way he was talking to people the whole way through the video, especially in the beginning. I see him being a barker. And that's an old-timey barker at the circus. The guy who wrangles up a crowd and gets them excited. Make them completely curious that they have no choice but to give you their money. That's all Bucktooth was doing, setting the crowd up. Flashing the cash, chumming up to the crowd, playing each person for a sucker in the hopes that someone would want to play a game with a little less luck and a little more skill. They'd want to play some pool with the Tooth, the guy with a roll who looks like he's ready to lose. But they have no chance.

Sounds good. But you dont bring a 4 foot by 2 foot board from California to drum up pool action at the Derby. :D

The Tooth came to "Roll the ball for BIG $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$" The last thing on his mind was playing pool.
