TAR Podcast this week?

Yes there will be a TAR podcast this week.

If you have any 'great ideas' for topics, post 'em here.
Or email me: markg@playcsipool.com.

I am sure Justin will chime in but I saw the post first!

How bout some info on the 10 foot diamond and maybe some info on Mike Gulyassy's place with the rebuilt ten footer.

Mark, I was wondering if you could go into more detail about the usapl. I know combining pro and amature pool has been a hot topic lately. You say that usapl is working on that. How so? I think I heard you say something about a travel fund? Or are you trying to fund a tour? Please elaborate.

I also have to say, TRY to stay positive. Anyone who's on this forum knows the pro game is in the toilet. You don't need to remind us of that every podcast. Let's talk about going forward. Good luck and I'll be watching.

Two Topics

1) what is your opinion on seeding, and the ABP requirement of seeding?

2) do you have any opinion on insidepoolarena in Florida. I have heard they plan to do a clash of titans style tourney with 10 footer. Any ideas from you guys to do some type of round robin tourney or small 4-6 man event for a ppv?

Thanks

Thanks for the comments - I do try to listen and there are some good ideas here.

I agree it is a good idea to stay positive - but we also have to stay REAL. I will always try to say what I am thinking, and sometimes that comes out a little biased. After all, it is my opinion.

I can talk about the USAPL some more.

Cannot comment (at this time) on the inside pool arena. I thought it was Gulyassy - but yet he is moving to Houston. Got me. . . . .

I do have concerns about ALL of the streaming. There are expenses and many are finding that out. There has to be a revenue source. Too many places will just 'cut up the pie' a little too much.

Sponsors and advertisers MUST get a return. The model is not here yet and everyone is trying to find out what works for them.

I just want pool to get more mainstream. And prosper and move up the entertainment ladder a few notches.

How about a TAR title with and actual Belt as a trophy, like wrestling. Nicely made but not too nice so the current champion does not pawn it. LOL. You win a challege match and you get the Title and the money. Go ahead and make the belt now and give it to the winner of svb and busty. In the future, if SVB wins just invite an opponent to challenge him. Pay them like you did earl, hotel, plane ticket and a few hundred for food or whatever. Let the winner get 3K, 4k or 5k, whatever you can afford through advertisment and ppv revenue. Try lowering ppv price to get more buyers. Do one race to 30 in one night (ie less expense). Do this once a month year around. Maybe have a challengers top 10 list on how players perform in the states only as a way to choose who challenges the champ.??

Streaming is not going away and the market will continue to get "cut up".

In business, it is a big advantage to be first into a niche market, but that won't stop the competition, nor should it.

Hollywood has to compete with a lot more amateur film makers than ever before. They also have to compete with hundred of cable channels, youtube broadcasts and piracy.

TAR and other streamers are no different. They must do it better with production quality and content (i.e. match-ups) better than the competition. Faster, cheaper and whatever else is important to beat the competition.

"Backyard" streaming is here to stay.

If you dont know what to do with foreigners because they may not be able to come back, just limit the title to players who live in north america to include Parica, Mika, Alex, Appleton, Hohmann, etc. If anyone(ie Wu, Chang, Orcullo, Alcano, etc.) wants to play in the TAR studio that does not live in north america, I am sure SVB will play them like he has always done, by having them bet something.

Competition doesn't really mean much. The available return on investment will send any truly talented people running for the hills. Until the worm turns it will just be amateurs trying to make a go of it because they like pool. Personally I dont worry about anyone else in the industry simply because no one is dumb enough to do what I do for what I get.

Besides all it would take to put everyone out of business is one well funded individual to come in and lock up the eight to ten marketable players to exclusive contracts for a couple years. End of story.Turn out the lights when you leave.

Its so funny to me to hear people who have never done a live PPV talk about how easy it should be and how much money you should make. I urge everyone to give it a shot. See how you like it.

<----- not sweating the competition

We go live at 9 PM Eastern tonight and we will be covering the topics put forth here and showing off the cue OB Cues is giving away for TAR 24. If you have time join us live and let us know what you think.

You can watch the recorded podcast on YouTube starting Friday if you cant catch the live version.
