Mark and I will be back this week on Thursday (tomorrow night) for Podcast #26 at 9PM eastern on www.theactionreport.com

We are looking for topic suggestions, questions, observations, complaints, threats or any other form of suggestion on what we should discuss and what viewers want to talk about.

Please let us know what is on your mind.

Ask them what one thing they would change about pro pool tournaments if they could.

Course since Dennis had not been asked yet, what's his aiming system lol

Who is the best player in the world and why? I think certain variations of this have been asked but not so directly and with justification.

As pointless as it may be, you could discuss pool as a sport in the Olympics. If for no other reason, because the Philippines hasn't won a medal since '96 and they would be well represented should pool be part of the Olympics.

I would like to hear them talk about their thoughts on the success of the recent 8-ball events on TAR, the 8-ball at Tunica, and the current Accustats 8-ball event. Do they see 8-ball potentially becomming more and more of a factor in pro pool given this surge of popularity in the game?

Also, now that the pros have played on the 10-foot diamonds and the fans seem to like them do they see the 10-foots as a good direction for pro pool to move towards?

A question that links the two above. If the game were to gravitate towards 8-ball what do they think would be the optimal table for it to be played on at the pro level going forward? A 4.5inch 9-foot diamond? A TAR pocket 9-foot diamond? A 4.5 inch 10-foot diamond? Or a TAR pocketed 10-foot diamond?

A question for TAR, would TAR consider shifting to a 10-foot table with the TAR sized pockets?

What are your thoughts on the 10 foot Diamond tables recently used in Tunica.

Thoughts on Landon Shuffett's impressive showing at the Southern Classic. Will he be the next great American player? Everybody thinks of Shane being so young but he's actually inching closer to 30. We really should have more great young players like Landon. It seems to be taking a lot longer for the American players to hit their stride than it should. Mid 20's seems a bit late. I think past greats started competing with the big boys much earlier (like Landon).

Just a couple thoughts off the top of my head.

What are their tip/ferrule/shaft maintenance habits? It'd be cool to get an up close look at how they keep their tips. I always find it fascinating how that kinda stuff can vary from player to player.

I spoke with Dennis Hatch about the topic before and he said he dad taught him to keep his ferrule clean, hence why you see him always wiping it with his thumb (my dad taught me the same exact thing).

During/after the last TAR match, some of us (myself included) asked about DVDs but that was either ignored or lost in the subsequent discussion of online, on-demand feeds.

So I'll try one more time... do you have plans to sell past, present, and future matches on DVD?

I should clarify: Tomorrow will be just Mark and I. Next Thursday we will try to have the players in. I know Dennis gets to vegas Thursday but I haven't gotten a firm time yet. Shane should make it as usual.

Don't want anyone tuning in tomorrow and getting pissed beacuse Dennis and Shane are not there.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the players will not be on this podcast. I take Justins post as it's him and Mark. Plus Shane is in the accu-stats event starting tomorrow so he obviously can't be there. The suggestions are good but I think they'll have to wait til next week.

Now to my suggestions. First I would say to keep things positive. All the negativity on the state of pool, lack of money in pool, how hard it is to outrun the nut is not what I want to hear, and I think anyone tuning in for the first time may be turned off by such talk. Potential sponsors too, it's not very appealing to them to hear how bad and unsuccessful/ unpopular pool is, IMO.

Next, I would maybe right down an order of topics to discuss. That way you're not trying to think of what to talk about next/ revisiting topics already discussed. It would also keep you guys from going off topic to the negativity. If you're going to have a section for questions from AZBers I'd suggest putting them in a list to make that portion go smoother and you can be more efficient in what you talk about.

Another thing to think about is what are you trying to accomplish with these podcasts? Make sure that that's clear by what is discussed. If it's to promote/ build excitement for the upcoming TAR match then make sure that's what is accomplished.

Lastly, keep the podcasts coming, I'd love to see them done weekly. They are very entertaining and informative. I really do enjoy watching them but I think if you guys tweak a few things they could be even better.

All of this is my personal opinion of course but you asked for opinions/ suggestions so here you go.

You should just let Mark go open mic free style...

Same question from me, would like to know as I much prefer DVD's
where I can watch many times if I want and can replay the same shot over
and over if I so desire.

Topic Suggestion: Discuss how the youth in various countries can be engaged to bring more talent into pool so our sport has a future.
Question: Where do you see TAR going and is your current state what you expected when you first started TAR?
Observation: Make sure when guests are invited that both are given time to answering questions. Prod them with a stake if necessary.
Complaints: Justin needs to make more jokes.
Threats: I know kung-fu.
On my mind: I used to run a podcast for gaming, and one useful thing I had to make sure the podcast was smooth was to simply have a list of bullet points of everything I wanted to cover in large text.

Do people really think a list is gonna keep Mark on track?

Justin: Up next on the list is the topic of 10 Foot Tables....

Mark: You know when I was in Alaska I had a 10 foot table....this guy called Peg Leg Jerry used to play on it. We called him Peg Leg because he had a Peg Leg....but he used to play pool with this guy who owned a pet bear. The bears name was Bear......

:D

We will give the list a shot this week.

<----knows how its gonna end

So, in the spirit of "nicknames given from afar" ;) -- Mark's new nickname is "Mark 'Band Camp' Griffin"?

This one time...in Alaska.

Actually the Alaska stories are not as prevalent as I make them out to be. I just find it kind of funny.

Whats really annoying is how many times I say "The thing of it is" during a podcast. Its at least fifty per show. Tilts the shit out of me when I go back and watch but I can't stop doing it.

I know what you mean. That one doesn't bug me as much as "The fact of the matter is..." I hear that one *SO* much, and it's so overused (beyond cliche) that I want to scream every time someone uses it. I've stricken that phrase from my vocabulary. ;)
