TAR Podcast Tomorrow 9 PM eastern...Topic Suggestions?

You both mention regularly how impossible it is to make money from a tournament or a tour. I'd like to know why. In a Vegas hotel, I understand everything costs, but it seems the way it is presented even if you held it in an existing pool hall you'd lose money. You don't have to hang lights at an existing venue so maybe if went through some rough numbers it make it easier to see why. Nothing has to be specific to an exact even or dollar figure, but putting something out there might help generate some ideas.

Also, Mark seems to have done ok in the business of pool halls. Does he have any insights for other owners out there who might be having trouble. Is there something different he did than what he sees around today?

Can you guys talk about your views on abortion?

We'll get into that right after religion, gay marriage, social security and healthcare.

Hopefully by then we will have pissed off everyone equally.

In the day and age of technology I am willing to bet most of the pro players both foreign and domestic have access to some type of remote video chatting technology. Why can't TAR try to arrange a remote call in from a pro where people can field questions to their favorite players. Maybe some could even have access to a pool table to be able to field Q&A about technical questions in regards to their game. I think this could be good because it would give the world the opportunity to gain access to their pro players and would give the players more exposure to the masses. Therefore build on TAR's following and build a stronger audience. To me it seems like a win win situation. Just a thought, obviously that can't happen by tomorrows podcast but definately something to think about for future shows. I see this type of interviewing all the time in the Technology field on podcasts. Thanks Justin for all you and TAR do for the sport.

This one time...in Alaska.

Actually the Alaska stories are not as prevalent as I make them out to be. I just find it kind of funny.

Whats really annoying is how many times I say "The thing of it is" during a podcast. Its at least fifty per show. Tilts the shit out of me when I go back and watch but I can't stop doing it.

Easy to be your own worst critic, I never noticed.

I'd say keep doing what your doing, they've been good.

Uh,,, maybe a close up of them corner pockets would be nice.

This one time in Alaska an Eskimo stuck a ________.

Ask Mark if he knew this about Alaska. If New York City had the same population density as Alaska, only 16 people would be living in Manhattan.

I like the idea of call in stuff, would not be hard to do at all and worst case scenario they can use a cell phone on speaker with a mic near it if needed. I enjoy hearing what the players have to say and opinions on things.

I have looked into doing it the "right" way and think our board would do it. Basically you have to bring the phone in on the board with either skype or a cell phone then send a mix back into the phone/computer minus the callers voice so he can hear both sides of the conversation.

Its not rocket surgery but I'm not an audio engineer either. I'll play with it at some point and see if I can figure it out. The way our audio works is all the mics go into a board that puts out a mix that goes into the tricaster which has its own small on board mixer.

I absolutely despise audio. No one notices it unless its screwed up and when its screwed up thats all anyone notices.

Top 10 poolhalls in America?

Wonder if the discusion could shed some light, based on the opinions of professional players, promoters and various other groups, on the 10 best poolhalls for location, equipment, environment and most importantly action.

questions

How about a battle between up and comers, Jesse Engel and Landon Shuffet? I think these kids could teach some "pros" how to act AND shoot.

How about a pre-match with the aiming system instructors so it can be settled one way or another?

Did any organization contact Mark about his open door for a pool summit? What would Mark like to see accomplished at the summit if it were to happen?

More later.

TAR podcast

Wags,

Thanks for bringing up the 'summit' idea.
I have not had ONE inquiry or response from any of the other leagues or decision makers in the billiard industry.

Very frustrating - and I don't want anyone pissed off when something goes down - and them complaining they wee not in the loop.

Questions and Suggestions for JCIN and Mark
1) Would it be possible to have a winner take all ring game in the TAR studio?

2) Suggestion - You could try having two commentators in the booth during the match. The match becomes more interesting if there is back and forth and good nature banter between the commentators. Nothing against Ken, but he is very serious during the match. Watch the 10 ball ring game on google where Jimmy Mataya and Danny Diliberto commentate. That was an awesome match and commentary.

Questions for Shane:
1) You have not been playing your best recently. Do you think all the travelling is actually hurting your game?

2) During your travels, was there any unknown local player who beat you or put up one hell of a fight playing for money.

Questions for Dennis
1) What is the standard of play in local Philippine pool halls compared to the US?

2) Many good Filipino players like Lee Van Corteza are losing their backers. Do you think pool is losing popularity in Philippines?

Questions to all of you guys:
Dont you think 10 footers should be the future of pool? Wouldn't that be challenging enough to bring out the best talent?
