TAR presents $15K All Around at the DERBY!!!

I am not from KY, so forgive me if I am wrong but, I always played full rack banks to a certain point value (generally to 23, 3 racks per set).

Wouldn't playing fullrack banks playing for the first to 8 per rack take alot of the strategy out of pure full rack banks?

May I suggest a race to 68 (9 racks maximum). Both players could be tied at 67 banks, having it all come down to "One Egg"

I firmly believe this will be much more exciting than by the rack. They are both gonna break safe and that is gonna lead to long racks of bank pool. Believe me, the fans that have never seen a top bank player get in a patch and bank their way out are gonna be deprived playing first to 8, in a rack. JMHO
Their dough, their game. If they want to play that way I am all for it.

i think the favorite is chohan in ten ball, daulton in one pocket? and up in the air on banks?

I would be surprised if Shannon wasn't at least a slight favorite in banks. He is originally from Kentucky, you understand. :D

I understand that Shannon is world class at 1h but did somebody just put him as a favorite over Chohan?..........Marc

IMHO in a decent length race I like Shannon in banks against anyone in the world for the CHEESE!

I like Shannon in banks vs. Tony. On the other hand, I would think give Tony the slightest edge in 10 ball and 1 pocket. Either way, that should be a great match up in all 3 disciplines. I can't wait!

Very slight advantage 1p to Chohan, banks to Daulton, 10 ball is toss up. I think it would be hard to find much closer match.

sign me up as usual!

my take is...

1. SD takes the Banks.

2. TC takes the 10ball.

3. 1P is a push, I've seen them both play and TC is a FEARLESS ball making machine, and SD can play wide open OR a very tight "old skool" game if needed. If they BOTH start firing away (which I hope) get ready to sell DVD's! :D

Gerry<< will make a small sweat bet on TC to win the all around.

This is another good match up by the TAR gang. Both players play all three games equally well. It could go either way.

It would be hard to bet this match. IMO Shannon is a slight favorite in Banks and T-Rex is a slight favorite in One Hole, but either one could go the other way. And Ten Ball is a toss up.

I'll just sweat this one from the sidelines.

Chad just got verbal confirmation from Shannon Daulton and Tony Chohan that they will play an All Around at the Derby.

Game is as follows:

10 Ball race to 30

One Pocket Race to 10

Full Rack Banks Race to 10

All sets are win by 2 games.

$5000 per set.

The match time and days are subject to the tournament schedule, probably towards the end of the event. No money has been posted but both parties have told Chad personally they will play.

More info will be up soon.

Derby is gonna be good this year:D

i thought harriman was the all around champ? or is this to see who plays him, kinda like boxing huh?

Saw Shannon recently. If he gets geared up for this, and I know he will, he IS the favorite. Ten ball is questionable, but the favorite for one hole and banks.

harriman

danny is keeping the straight pool in his allaround! these 2 guys are playing a challenge not the all around!finding somebody to play danny that he will agree to play is tuff he plays straight pool very well and theres not many that play that discapline very well!

who's next-(D.H.vs)(S.V.B.vs)

Thanks for answering the guestion in my MIND that danny was still the champ in the allaround -This will give them both a little more practice. Only the winner should be able to challenge danny? Shane was in the HOUSE yesterday racked about 50 practice breaks. played a shortstop by the name of ty wilson. It was very interesting ( the league players- had to be educated on who shane is.) LONG LIVE THE DERBY the IPT still sucks mark

i was just going off what jcin said. he called it an all around. im not splitn hairs here, just would like to see danny get some well deserved action. nobody else wants to challenge danny??????? seems like svb gets all he can handle, and nobody wants dannys "crown" straight pool is just one of three, tell me someone thinks that they got the other two!!!! I guess you got em scared danny:D

I'm surprised most people think Tony is the favorite in one pocket considering Shannon has 3 or 4 Legends of One Pocket titles.

Shannon is a big favorite in banks.

10-Ball just depends on who is hitting them better that day, IMO.

I will give 6 to 5 on these bets.
shannon 10 ball
tony 1 pocket
shannon banks
Must bet all 3 sets
PM for any takers
Must bet atleast $100 each set and you win $120.
I will be so we can post up.
Thank you

I posted this on another thread but what about Stevie Moore? He is the defending DCC bank champion, played in the 14.1 world championship this year, and winner on the Florida Pro Tour. Anyway just a match up I would like to see.

This action challenge sounds great. I'd have to root for Tony because he's from Northern Cali!!

I thought it would be interesting to incorporate last pocket 8-ball into one of these action challenges or even just regular 8-ball. I think last pocket would be a lot more interesting than full rack banks.

14.1 will rermain in the All Around Action Challenge

Danny Harriman here, just wanted to let everyone know who might be interested that John and I are going to have a rematch with the same format. But I thought it would be nice to offer anyone else a chance at this same format, the sign says "THE WINDOWS OPEN." I lost in a 14.1 tournament recently to a great player who is not really familiar with this great game. If he did there is no telling how well he might play, my point is I love the game of 14.1 and if I had a million dollars I would do my part to host as many events as possible. I think it is wonderful what John Schmidt is doing at the Derdy City Classic. Everyone who likes to play 14.1 even a little should take him up on his clinic. So this is just to let everyone know that I am not ducking anyone it's not my style to do that, I don't care what nationality they are I will play anyone under this format. It's my understanding that Chad and Justin want to keep the competition between American players at this time, if John is the only one who will play 14.1 and these other disciplines then I realize that I have my hands full as Mr. Schmidt is a great champion and maybe we will both play better this next time. There was an idea from my end to change either the one pocket or ten ball to full rack banks, but as I understand these two games must remain. I'm looking forward to competing in the next Action All Around Challenge.
Sincerely, Danny Harriman

Thanks for posting Danny. To clarify one point, we do not have any reservations about who can play, American or not. As far as we are concerned anyone who wants to play is welcome.

As a matter of fact we have someone who is very interested in playing you the same way as John did. We should have a firm answer at the Derby. I know John is ready to go again, so we have that to look forward to as well.
