I think if any of the top pros had a month or so to practice the game that almost any two of the top players would make a good show for fans and a good ppv for TAR. I also think that shorter sets (races to 15 1st to win 3 sets) would bring a lot of shots taken by players that are behind and make it more exieting. Johnnyt

I remember when it was called 2 shot foul and when I found out about one shot foul I thought that was so much simpler and allowed for the player without the seasoning a better chance of winning. The old timers would call it 1 pocket nineball. Times change.

I agree. I also think we'd have players like Buddy hall and Keith McCready come out of retirement to play, they seemed to favor that format.

You would think. We had 82 players at the Country Calvin Classic and the were maybe 3-5 old schoolers. The finals was Sylver Ochoa v Kevin Guimond, both in their 20's! lol

I love this idea also,10 ball two foul push, wow i hope u got something in the makings Johnny T!

Like I said in the podcast...I have never seen two top guys play two foul rules seriously. I am really curious to see if I and others would enjoy it or not. Might make for a cool undercard match. Get a couple guys to play a race to 9, 2 shot push out for $500 or $1000.

it would encourage much more shot making, especially long rail banks & thin cuts. The idea behind pushout was to try & figure out your opponents weakness & push that shot. ie I used to like to push long shots with my opponent froze to the rail. Some payers would push to long rail banks & dare you to fire it.

It would really give the people who scoff at it an idea of just how different the game is. I like it!!

I have some 2 foul pushout match video with Jeremy Jones, Brandon Shuff, CJ Wiley, Calvin Harcrow and more . If anyone is interested I will load them on Justin.tv.

You all recall that Earl killed that game with his ability to jump... He simply pushed into jump shots and you either let him shoot or you tried and sold out.... 2 shot push out is dead and buried and should remain so......

The strategy aspect of it will be akin to Pros playing 8ball and The tempo of the game will grind to a halt....

The lack of support for the game is not going to be fixed by going to a slower paced game...

Do any of you actually watch what the teams do in league play during 8ball... Most of the players don't even watch their teammates matches. Sure some diehards will watch just like many people watch 1 pocket.... I will watch a little of it but watching paint dry is just as enjoyable for many of the racks.....

People love 2 things about poker.... Bad beats and catching a card on the river when it's long odds..... Maybe that is the dynamic needed to get TV/ the public interested again..... Sure 2 shot will give you a few more great shots per match but the fact that the time between them will drag will be a killer........

simple solution to your hypothetical. either learn to jump or duck that opponent. You obviously have never played pushout & your knowledge of it is erroneous.

Your Ass-umption is erroneous and I play it quite well... I actually feel I have a better shot winning in 2 shot pushout than under express... I just think by and large it slows the game down and anything that does that is bad for the game...

Earl broke a lot of players using the jump strategy in 2 shot... Most players didn't really pushout from a pushout and even when they did where do you push that you want to give Earl the choice of shooting or handing it back....
